Almost 180 AFL Draft hopefuls will test themselves around the country after personally being invited to participate in their respective states Draft Combines.

Clubs were asked to nominate their preferred list of attendees, with male and female players from the Swan Districts Football Club making up almost a third of those invited to participate in WA’s testing on September 30^th.

Round 9 of the 2020 Optus WAFL Premiership Season was the last chance for all three Swan Districts men’s sides to take to the field, having failed to qualify for finals this year.

It also saw the retirement of Steven Payne, along with Matt Riggio playing his 200^th game in the black and white.

It was a weekend of mixed emotions for our Swan Districts teams. We had:

• A first win of the season,
• A loss to be knocked out of an elimination final,
• A win in a milestone game for a club champion, and
• A loss to take away the chance of playing finals.

There arguably could not be a bigger game to kick off the WAFLW finals series than an elimination game between last season’s grand final sides, Swan Districts and East Fremantle.

Having played each other just last week, they will face off again this Sunday with everything to play for. For the loser, it’s game over, while the winner moves on to play the loser of Subiaco and Peel.
