2026 Youth Week in the Pilbara

Both our incredible Social Impact teams in the Pilbara treated our young people to an awesome Youth Week.
Roebourne
As part of the Youth Week 2026 holiday program, we visited the local army barracks for an educational day with the Pilbara Regiment. We received a safety brief from the OPSO, took part in a Q&A with the Commanding Officer, and enjoyed a guided tour with Warrant Officer King.
He shared his career story and many highlights. Our young people were engaged and asked plenty of questions. We’re grateful to the Regiment for welcoming us and giving us a glimpse into the life of a Pilbara Regiment soldier. We can’t wait to be back. Last weekend’s Swans Roebourne Multisport beach edition was a huge hit. We had a great day out with local legends Youth Week. We played beach football, beach soccer, beach touch rugby, and even tried some beach relays. Big thanks to Dampier Surf Life Saving Club, Yurra, Country Football WA – Pilbara, City of Karratha Events, and our program supporters. The kids truly appreciated it.

Onslow

We had a wonderful time with our young people in Onslow. Although Cyclone Narelle changed some of our April holiday plans and we lost one of our major events with the Pannawonica youth, along with several facilitator‑run activities due to travel limits and water shortages, our community stayed strong. Onslow came together to create fun programs and events for everyone to enjoy.

We finished the week with a day trip to Karratha, taking 15 young people for a day of fun at the Karratha Leisureplex, followed by a McDonald’s lunch, some shopping, and a tasty Boost smoothie or ice‑cream to finish.

We’re excited to complete our large AY Youth Week 2026 canvas, designed by Maeson Harvey, our Youth Week Ambassador. It will soon be proudly displayed in the Youth Shed for all to enjoy. What a great week celebrating our young people!

It was an incredible night at our VIP Youth Dinner celebrating our Onslow Youth People AY Ashburton Youth. Young people sharing in a special AY paint by numbers “Strength in our Stories”. Personally designed by Maeson Harvey one of the Youth Week WA Ambassador for 2026. Maeson also was in attendance to meet our young people and share in the FUN. Maeson is currently working for the Shire of Ashburton such an assist to our local areas.
Young people got to take home their very own smaller version to complete and remember the night. Along with AY branded hats, t-shirts, stickers, lolly pops, pens and more.
From Just Dance battles, to building balloon towers, funny relays to musical chairs it was a great night.
Massive shout out to Shire of Ashburton Swans Onslow for organising the night. To our Primary funding partner Chevron and Onslow Police for lending the Blue Light music equipment.
Thank you to all our brave, strong, resilient, creative, gleeful, inspiring Onslow young people for letting us all be apart of their story.
