Round 5 Women’s Preview v Perth
It’s a Friday night WAFL Women’s battle on Anzac Day eve for Swan Districts in Round 5 of the season as they put their undefeated start on the line against Perth at Mineral Resources Park.
The Anzac Day long weekend sees Swan Districts open up the WAFL Women’s round firstly with the Rogers Cup match up against Perth at Lathlain’s Mineral Resources Park on Friday night.
That game gets underway at 5:30pm with the WAFL Women’s match up then following at the same venue between the same two teams beginning at 7:30pm.
Swan Districts have made a blistering start to the 2026 WAFL Women’s season to be the only undefeated team in the competition with the four victories.
Those wins have come against Claremont, South Fremantle, East Fremantle and West Perth by an average of 29.5 points as they now put that perfect record on the line against Perth on Friday night.
The Demons started their season with the Round 1 bye before a loss to Subiaco in Round 2 and then having a draw with South Fremantle and breaking through for a first win of 2026 last Saturday against Peel Thunder by 19 points in Mandurah.
The Demons joined the WAFL Women’s competition last year and the first time they ever played was in Round 7 at Steel Blue Oval with Swan Districts securing the 19-point victory.
The second meeting came in Round 17 last year at Mineral Resources Park and it was Swans also beating the Demons by 17 points.
Swan Districts’ midfield dynamo Jaime Henry has started the season in blistering form averaging 34.5 possessions a game and is looking forward to the challenge of playing Perth on Friday night.
“It’s absolutely not going to be an easy game for us and they’ve had a massive off-season with recruiting and getting a lot better,” Henry said on 91.3 SportFM.
“Just the younger girls they’ve got have been really stepping up having had a couple of years of experience under their belts now so I’m actually really excited for the game to go head-to-head with them.
“You never know how it’s going to go but it’s a really exciting challenge for us and we’re looking forward to taking them on this Friday night.”
Coming off their win over West Perth on Saturday, Sienna Gerardi and Kayla Gordon come into the Swan Districts team to take on Perth on Friday night.
Going out for the Swans are Tyla Fitzgerald and Isa Edgley.
After Perth’s win against Peel also last Saturday, Paige Bower, Evie Gooch, Poppy Stockwell, Brooke Whyte and Sophie Williams come into the team to take on Swan Districts.
Going out for the Demons are Jorja Haines, Skye Elliott, Mia Carlshausen, Mel Grage and Tessa Kongras.
The Rogers Cup match up also between Perth and Swan Districts will get things underway at Mineral Resources Park on Friday night with the contest starting at 5:30pm.
Swan Districts are fresh off a 36-point win against West Perth last Friday night at Steel Blue Oval against West Perth while they take on a Perth team also who had a win by four goals last Saturday against Peel Thunder in Mandurah.
Swans are sitting on top of the Rogers Cup ladder with a perfect 4-0 record coming into the match up with Perth having won two and lost one from their first three games.
Swan Districts have made plenty of changes coming into the Friday night game with Charlotte Cousin, Khalia Fawcett, Keira Fawcett, Charli Grau, Adi Griffith and Penelope Punawvaha into the side.
Going out for the Swans are Gemma Smith, Macey Johnson, Madi Fisher, Shanae Morisey, Lily Williamson and Isla McAulay.
Coming off that win over the Thunder, Perth have made two changes to their Rogers Cup team with Giordana Macri and Aqua Samuels coming into the line-up.
Going out for the Demons are Taylor Keegan and Anwen Davies.
