Swan Districts made a solid start to the inaugural WAFLW season opening with a loss to Subiaco before a big win over Claremont the next week.

Then following a defeat to East Fremantle on the road, Swan Districts returned home in Round 4 and scored a commanding 46-point victory against the winless Peel Thunder.

Round 10 Preview v Claremont

Friday, June 14, 2019 - 3:30 AM - by Chris Pike

SWAN Districts is back in action on Sunday afternoon against Claremont in a standalone WAFL fixture at Steel Blue Oval.

Swan Districts' last WAFL clash was two weeks ago against Perth as part of the WA Day long weekend where the black-and-whites looked on track for a third win of the season for much of the afternoon, but it wasn’t quite to be against the Demons.

That has left Swans with two weeks to now stew over that and prepare to take on Claremont this Sunday afternoon at Steel Blue Oval.

Another narrow defeat for Swans against Demons

Tuesday, June 4, 2019 - 7:24 PM - by Chris Pike

SWAN Districts looked likely to come away with the win on Saturday against Perth but in the end it was yet another frustrating loss this season for the Black Ducks in Round 8 of the WAFL season.

Swans were on top of the Demons for most of the contest at Lathlain's Mineral Resources Park and even led by as much as 27 points midway through the third quarter.

However, Swans couldn’t quite hold on and with Perth kicking the last two goals of the game it meant the Demons went on to win by six points.

Swans finally win at home against Eagles

Tuesday, May 28, 2019 - 12:51 PM - by Chris Pike

IT might be one of the most famous grounds in the state but for Swan Districts playing at Steel Blue Oval hasn’t been a source of wins in recent times, but that changed on Saturday with the 14-point win against the West Coast Eagles.

Remarkably Swan Districts had lost its last nine home matches at Bassendean's Steel Blue Oval leading into Saturday's contest with the last win at the famous ground for the Black Ducks coming in Round 9 last year against Perth.

Since then Swans lost their last five games at Steel Blue Oval in 2018 and then the first four matches of this year against South Fremantle, Perth, Subiaco and East Fremantle despite 18 points being the biggest margin.

In Their Words - Nathan Blakely Round 7

Saturday, May 25, 2019 - 7:08 AM - by Nathan Blakely

IT'S quarter past five Saturday afternoon, we’ve just gone down for our fifth loss of the year. The boys heads are down and we are being clapped off by our enduring supporters in another ‘close defeat’.

In the space of a fortnight we have gone from being four goals ahead at three quarter-time against the undefeated Subiaco Football Club to losing against a winless East Fremantle side. How can we be so inconstent, why would we put in a performance like that when our season is on the line?

I walk into the change rooms knowing I’ve just been given a belting against returning club captain and ex-Fremantle Docker Jonathon Griffin. I haven’t had a belting like that since the days of being a young duckling up against the likes of AFL premiership player Mark Seaby and 3 x AFL club man, and East Perth champion Paul Johnson. And I tell you it doesn’t feel good. Embarrassing almost, you feel you have let down your teammates, your family and you know it will be at the forefront of your mind until about midweek.
