Round 5 WAFLW Match Report
The winning continued on Friday night for both the WAFL Women’s and Rogers Cup teams at Swan Districts as they kept their perfect records going with wins against Perth.
The Swans put their undefeated records on the line on Friday night at Lathlain’s Mineral Resources Park and both came away victorious against the Demons.
The WAFL Women’s clash was second up on Friday night and Swan Districts didn’t score in the first quarter but didn’t concede a goal to Perth after quarter-time on the way to the eventual 4.7 (31) to 1.11 (17) victory.
That improves Swans to a perfect 5-0 record to start the WAFL Women’s season to be the only team in 2026 yet to taste a defeat on the back of kicking four goals to nil after quarter-time.
Jaime Henry once again delivered a stunning performance in the midfield for Swan Districts. She finished the night with 39 possessions, 16 tackles, six marks and five entries inside the forward 50.
Chloe Reilly also ended up with 18 disposals, Makaela Grau 17, Jess Cox 16, Luka Davis 15, Summer Ajduk 13, Naomi Baker 12, Jemma Sly 12, Demi Liddle 12 and Ash Sharp 12.
Tamzyn Beros also finished with 12 touches to go with 11 hit outs and 10 tackles as she continues to hold down the ruck in the absence of Lauren Quaife.
It wasn’t the start the undefeated Swan Districts were hoping for in the WAFL Women’s clash on Friday night with Perth having the only four scores of the first quarter including a goal to Poppy Stockwell.
That saw the Demons leading by nine points at quarter-time and it took until just 18 seconds before half-time for Swans to get their first goal on the board.
That was kicked by Summer Yarran and cut the Perth lead back to four points by half-time with a goal apiece in the opening half.
Swan Districts then made a flying start to the second half with goals to Chloe Reilly and Ash Sharp in less than seven minutes, and by three quarter-time they were nine points in front.
Swans then also kicked the first goal of the last quarter through Sienna Gerardi and that was enough to secure the 14-point win and to keep her team undefeated to start 2026.
It was the Rogers Cup match up that got things underway on Friday evening at Mineral Resources Park with Swan Districts producing another strong performance for the 8.5 (53) to 3.9 (27) victory.
Swan Districts started strongly with the only two goals of the first quarter to be leading by 12 points at quarter-time before it was a goal apiece in the second term.
That saw the Swans leading by 11 points at half-time and then it was two goals each in the third quarter, and Swan Districts made sure of the win with the only three goals of the final stanza.
That saw Swans score the 26-point victory to now improve to a 5-0 record in the Rogers Cup season to remain undefeated to date in 2026.
Keira Fawcett kicked three goals in the win for Swan Districts with one apiece to Lilyanah Baker, Penelope Punaivaha, Lara Sherborne, Frankie Best and Jaya Abbott.
