Round 18 WAFL Women’s Match Report

Swan Districts secured the minor premiership in the WAFL Women’s competition for 2026 with another win on Sunday against Perth to end up a game and massive percentage clear in top spot.

The Swans already just about had that top spot confirmed even before hosting Perth at Steel Blue Oval on Sunday afternoon.

But then Swans were able to confirm that minor premiership with the 7.4 (46) to 3.7 (25) victory against Perth on the back of kicking the first six goals of the game.

That means that Swan Districts end the home and away season with a 14-2 record to be a game and percentage clear in top spot ahead of Claremont who they will now face in this Sunday’s second semi-final also at Steel Blue Oval.

It was another remarkable individual performance from Jaime Henry for Swan Districts who should be the raging favourite for the Dhara Kerr Medal in 2026. She finished with 35 possessions, nine marks, four tackles and two goals.

Ash Sharp also kicked another two goals in the win for the Swans while Jemma Sly collected 25 possessions, Jess Cox 22, Luka Davis 20, Kayley King 19, Chloe Reilly 16, Kyah Chirichilli 14 and Summer Ajduk 14.

It took a while for the first goal of the game to come with Swan Districts kicking two behinds first and Perth three before just before quarter-time it was Summer Ajduk who kicked the opening major and that saw the home team leading by five points at quarter-time.

Jaime Henry then kicked the second goal of the game during the second quarter to extend the lead for Swans to 12 points and then Ash Sharp added another to push the advantage out to 18 points.

Sharp kicked a second just before half-time and Swan Districts kicking the only four goals of the first half to be leading by 24 points at half-time.

Kayley King kicked the first goal of the second half and Henry added her second of the game to see Swans manage the first six goals of the contest before Perth got on the board just before three quarter-time thanks to Gemma Dix.

Swans then added another goal in the last term through Chloe Reilly and that saw them end up scoring the eventual 21-point victory.

The day’s action on Sunday got underway at Steel Blue Oval with the Rogers Cup match up and that saw Swan Districts beat Perth 4.11 (35) to 1.3 (9) to finish the home and away season in second position.

Swan Districts kicked the only goal of the first quarter before then managing three more goals in the second term to head into the half-time break leading by 29 points having held the Demons to just the two behinds.

Swans only managed the two behinds in the third quarter and Perth kicked their only goal of the game before Swan Districts had two points in the last term and the Demons one with the home team going on to score the 26-point victory.

The result sees Swan Districts finish the Rogers Cup season in second position with a 14-2 record to be only percentage off the first placed East Fremantle but three games clear of the third ranked Claremont.

The goals for Swans were kicked by Khalia Fawcett, Madi Fisher, Adi Griffith and Charlotte Cousin.

Swan Districts will now open their finals campaign in the Rogers Cup with a second semi-final match up against East Fremantle this Sunday at Steel Blue Oval with a spot in the Grand Final the prize for the winner.
