Round 14 Women’s Preview v East Fremantle

Swan Districts remain at home in the WAFLW competition this Saturday to play host to East Fremantle with both teams looking to hit back from tight losses last weekend.

It’s Round 14 of the WAFLW  season with Swans taking on the Sharks at Steel Blue Oval on Saturday with the clash getting underway from 12:15pm.

It’s a big game for both teams too with Swan Districts still holding onto top position with a 10-2 record to be percentage ahead of Claremont still coming into Round 14 while East Fremantle are in third position and needing a win to stay there.

Both teams suffered nail-biting losses last week too with Swan Districts going down at home to Subiaco by just five points then at the same time the Sharks also lost a heart stopper by just three points to Claremont.

That sets up a fascinating clash now this Saturday at Steel Blue Oval with Swans needing to win to stay in top spot while the Sharks also need a win to avoid slipping down the top five depending on other results.

It was a Friday night battle between the two teams back in Round 3 at The Good Grocer Park and on that occasion it was Swan Districts beating East Fremantle 7.9 (51) to 4.4 (28).

The win for the Swans saw Jaime Henry racking up 31 possessions, Luka Davis 21, Naomi Baker 21, Jess Cox 19, Chloe Reilly 19, Tamzyn Beros 16, Grace Hirst 15 and Lauren Quaife 12 to go with 34 hit outs in the ruck.

Swan Districts will look to respond to the loss to Subiaco with Tyla Fitzgerald, Emily McGuire and Courtney Ugle back into the line-up.

Going out for the Swans are Grace Hirst, Emma Nanut and Summer Ajduk.

East Fremantle are trying to hit back from last week’s three-point loss to Claremont with Zoe Edmonds, Sienna Lilly, Avuya Nomlatyu, Laila O’Connor and Reini Tutuki all into the team to take on Swans.

Going out for the Sharks are Olivia McCay, Carys Gourlay, Siena Jezierski-Brown, Kai Clucas and Clotilde Decaux.

The Rogers Cup contest will get proceedings underway on Saturday morning at Steel Blue Oval with Swan Districts taking on East Fremantle starting at 10:05am.

It’s a top-of-the-table clash in the Rogers Cup as well with Swan Districts currently sitting in second position with a 10-2 record while East Fremantle are in first at 10-1.

Swans are fresh off beating Subiaco by 37 points last Saturday also at home at Steel Blue Oval while the Sharks retained top spot by beating Claremont by 47 points at Revo Fitness Stadium.

The two teams met back in Round 3 this season on a Friday evening at The Good Grocer Park and on that occasion it was Swan Districts handing East Fremantle their lone loss of the Rogers Cup season so far with the 7.8 (50) to 6.5 (41) victory.

In that win for the Swans, Lara Sherborne kicked four goals with Lilly Baker adding three.

Now coming off that win last week against Subiaco, Katica Borsic, Micaela Henry and Penelope Punaivaha come into the Rogers Cup team for Swan Districts.

Going out are Zoe Tickner, Macey Johnson and Milly Reid.

East Fremantle have also made four changes to their team that beat Claremont with Kai Clucas, Carys Gourlay, Lloydessa Kwilla and Chelsea McDonnell into the team.

Gong out for the Sharks are Milla Cicerello, Laila O’Connor, Sophia Craig and Brooke Peachey.
