Round 11 Women’s Preview v East Perth
Swan Districts are still clear in top spot of the WAFLW competition and will look to maintain that when they play host to East Perth on Saturday at Steel Blue Oval.
Swans will take on the Royals in Round 11 of the WAFL Women’s season for 2026 with the contest getting underway at 12:10pm which will follow the Rogers Cup clash at Steel Blue Oval and lead into the WAFL Men’s contest between Swan Districts and the West Coast Eagles.
Swan Districts improved to an 8-1 record in the WAFL Women’s competition with the 90-point victory in Mandurah against Peel Thunder last Saturday to maintain their hold on top spot ahead of reigning premiers Claremont.
East Perth comes into the game having lost last Saturday to South Fremantle at Leederville by 16 points with the Royals currently holding a 2-7 record for the season.
It’s the second time that the two teams have played one another this season and the first meeting was back in Round 6 with Swan Districts scoring the 49-point win against East Perth at Sullivan Logistics Stadium.
Coming off an eight-goal haul last week against Peel, Swan Districts forward Ash Sharp is looking ahead to taking on East Perth this Saturday.
“Every team you come up against in this league you know it’s never going to be an easy game and this weekend as well is going to be pretty wet and windy so that can bring the game back to level terms as well,” Sharp told 91.3 SportFM.
“East Perth are a young group and we didn’t play them too long ago and it was a close game until halfway through the last quarter when we were able to get a bit more on top.
“That just shows that they are competitive and if they can string together a consistent four quarters of footy, which we will expect from them, then it’s going to be a hard hitting contest which is nice and we’re looking forward to that.”
Swan Districts are fresh off beating Peel by 90 points last week and from that team have made just the one change for the side to take on East Perth with Kyah Chirichilli coming into the side and Aisling Quinn going out.
East Perth lost to South Fremantle by 16 points last Saturday and from that side, Isabella Foletta, Saffi Jennings, Tessa Kongras and Hope Ugle-Hayward are the inclusions.
Going out for the Royals are Mia Pappas, Tessa Kohn, Kahra Sprlyan and Stella Bardon.
The Rogers Cup match up between Swan Districts and East Perth will get things underway at Steel Blue Oval on Saturday from 10:05am.
Coming into the Round 11 match up and Swans are sitting in second position in the Rogers Cup with a 7-2 record while East Perth are currently in last place with just the one win so far in 2026.
Swan Districts are coming off the Rogers Cup win last week against Peel and from that team, there’s just the one change with Sierra Nokes into the line-up and Layla Hagerstrom going out.
East Perth lost to South Fremantle last Saturday at home and from that team, Alicia Kenny and Ruby Thompson come into the team.
Going out for the Royals are Tanishya Murray and Hayley Tabor.
