Pilbara Ports Visit Strengthens Pathways for Onslow Young People
The Pilbara Ports team visited us last week as part of our partnership with Swans Onslow, with the wonderful Emma and Sarah, and this time introducing Chris Harrowing, Terminal Operations Principal West Pilbara. It was a privilege to welcome Chris and learn more about his role within Terminal Operations.
We were thrilled to see new young people join the session, eager to hear about the diverse career options and pathways available through Pilbara Ports. Chris shared insights into his own journey, sparking conversations about future goals and what our young people hope to pursue after finishing school. Staff and participants alike valued the opportunity to hear real‑world experiences from someone working at the heart of West Pilbara operations.
After a Q&A session, the team stayed to play a few games of pool with the young people, a simple but meaningful way to build connection, trust and genuine conversation. These moments are often where the most impactful learning happens.
Our partnership with Pilbara Ports aims to strengthen wellbeing, social connection, life skills and employment readiness for young people in Onslow. Through mentoring, leadership development and exposure to real employment pathways, we’re working together to support the next generation as they grow, explore and prepare for their futures.
A huge thank you to Pilbara Ports for their continued commitment to our community, their generous merchandise giveaways, and the time they invest in our young people. We look forward to welcoming the team back for their Term 4 visit.
