WAFLW Preliminary Final Preview

SWAN Districts is on fire at the right time of the year in the inaugural WAFL Women's season and now one more win in Saturday's preliminary final against Subiaco and they are through to the Grand Final.

Swans are now in their best form of the season having won four straight matches including a thumping win at home over Claremont in last Sunday's first semi-final against Claremont.

That moves Swan Districts into this Saturday's preliminary final against Subiaco and a win for the black-and-whites will see them through to the Grand Final and feeling good about their chances of winning the first ever WAFLW premiership.

Donnellan proud yet cautious heading into prelim final

SWAN Districts is one win away from the inaugural WAFL Women's Grand Final with coach Kara Donnellan delighted with her team's form heading into the preliminary final against Subiaco but wary of their threat.

Swan Districts produced a tremendous performance last Sunday in the first semi-final to beat Claremont at Steel Blue Oval by 41 points.

It was a performance that saw Swans hold Claremont scoreless the entire first half and to go on and dominate the contest with 13 scoring shots to two on the way to ending the season of the Tigers.

Dream comes true for Emily McGuire

NOT only is Swan Districts WAFLW star Emily McGuire focused on trying to help Swans into the Grand Final, but she is still coming to terms with earning a West Coast Eagles AFLW contract.

For someone still only 20 years of age, McGuire has packed quite a lot into her life already having worked with the Swan Districts Football Club on the Kicking Goals program in the Pilbara while also working with the Wirrpanda Foundation.

She has become a standout player with Swan Districts previously in the Youth Girls Rogers Cup competition and then in the WAWFL competition which earned her an opportunity to first play in the AFL Women's with the Fremantle Dockers.

Swans colts' season ends at hands of Royals

THE season of Swan Districts' colts might have ended at the hands of East Perth on Saturday morning but that doesn’t change the fact that it's a team full of exciting talent with bright futures.

The season for Swan Districts comes to an end after it promised so much with those seven straight wins to open the campaign. But from there Swans ended up winning just one of the last 10 matches despite the encouraging signs in terms of the young talent emerging.

Kade Wallrodt, Ayden Cartwright, Ethan Nordahl and Brock Fisher were the goal scorers for Swan Districts.

Swans one win from Grand Final in WAFLW

SWAN Districts is playing elimination football every week in the inaugural WAFL Women's season but based on their performance on Sunday to thrash Claremont by 41 points, there's no reason they can't still have their sights on going all the way.

Swan Districts finished the inaugural WAFLW season in third position on the ladder with a 7-5 record which meant they were only percentage off the second placed East Fremantle.

Claremont was only a game back of Swans but finished the season with almost half the percentage so Swan Districts deserved to be feeling confident heading into Sunday's first semi-final at Steel Blue Oval.

WAFLW First Semi-Final Preview

THE inaugural season of the WAFL Women's competition sees the finals begin this weekend and it has Swan Districts hosting Claremont at Steel Blue Oval on Sunday.

Swan Districts has long been a powerhouse of female football in Western Australia so it was always a given that with the new WAFLW competition formed in 2019 that one of the five clubs to be part of it would be the black-and-whites.

And following the end of the home and away season, Swan Districts finished in third position on the ladder to earn the hosting rights for the first semi-final while Subiaco and East Fremantle do battle in the second semi-final.

Colts Elimination Final Preview

SWAN Districts colts have qualified for the 2019 WAFL finals series and they look to keep their season alive up against East Perth in Saturday morning's elimination final.

The game will be held at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Saturday morning from 9.15am with the seasons of both Swan Districts and East Perth going on the line.

Swan Districts finished the colts season in fifth position on the ladder with an 8-8 record while East Perth were only marginally ahead in fourth spot at 9-7.
