The Swan Districts Round 9 Wrap-Up

Round 9 of the 2020 Optus WAFL Premiership Season was the last chance for all three Swan Districts men’s sides to take to the field, having failed to qualify for finals this year.

It also saw the retirement of Steven Payne, along with Matt Riggio playing his 200th game in the black and white.

Round 9, 2020 WAFL League Team Selection

Although the Swan Districts and East Fremantle league side cannot make finals, they both still have plenty to play for this weekend.

  • A first win of the season,
  • A loss to be knocked out of an elimination final,
  • A win in a milestone game for a club champion, and
  • A loss to take away the chance of playing finals.

Elimination Final, 2020 WAFLW Team Selection

There arguably could not be a bigger game to kick off the WAFLW finals series than an elimination game between last season’s grand final sides, Swan Districts and East Fremantle.

Having played each other just last week, they will face off again this Sunday with everything to play for. For the loser, it’s game over, while the winner moves on to play the loser of Subiaco and Peel.

Rigs to hit the double century both in the WAFL and for the Black and Whites

With only a couple of games remaining in the 2020 Optus WAFL Premiership regular season, Swans co-captain, Matt Riggio, appears set to hit double century milestones for the next two weeks in a row.
