Round 9 Women’s Preview v Subiaco

Swan Districts will open the WA Day long weekend by taking on Subiaco on the road in the WAFL Women’s competition with an attempt to bounce back from a first defeat of the 2026 season.

Prior to Sunday against Claremont at Steel Blue Oval, Swan Districts were undefeated this season in both the WAFL Women’s and Rogers Cup competitions.

But coming out of the State game break, Claremont handed the Swans losses for both teams and now the chance to immediately respond presents on Friday night against Subiaco at Sullivan Logistics Stadium.

The Rogers Cup match up will get underway at the Leederville venue at 5:15pm with the WAFL Women’s contest to follow at 7:20pm.

In the WAFL Women’s competition, Swan Districts had won their first six games of the season on the back of playing in last year’s grand final ahead of hosting Claremont last Sunday.

It ended up being a 33-point victory for Claremont despite Jaime Henry continuing her standout midfield form with another 24 possessions and 11 tackles while Jess Cox had 16 disposals, Jemma Sly 16 and Naomi Baker 16.

Lauren Quaife had another 16 possessions, 23 hit outs and six tackles in her 100th WAFLW game and she will now he determined to make game 101 a winning one for Swan Districts.

Swans still sit in top spot of the WAFL Women’s competition with the 6-1 record as they take on a Subiaco team in fourth place with a 4-3 record and having lost a five-point thriller to East Fremantle last Saturday despite having 14 scoring shots to nine.

There’s just two changes to the Swan Districts team that lost to Claremont back on Sunday and as they try to bounce back on Friday night, Tamzyn Beros and Luka Davis return to the team for the black-and-whites.

Going out for Swans are Tyla Fitzgerald and Madi Fisher.

Subiaco will be trying to respond to a loss to East Fremantle as well with Dana Hooker and Paige Sheppard into the team.

Going out for the Lions are Scarlet Gallo and Abby Critchell.

It’s the Rogers Cup match up between Swan Districts and Subiaco that gets things underway from 5:15pm on Friday evening at Sullivan Logistics Stadium.

Coming into the game and Swan Districts will be trying to hit back from their first loss of the season back on Sunday at home to Claremont while Subiaco will be attempting to bounce back from a loss to East Fremantle as well on Saturday.

Swan Districts do remain in second position in the Rogers Cup with a 6-1 record but Subiaco are hot on their heels at 5-2 making for a fascinating Friday evening contest to open the WA Day long weekend.

Coming off that loss to Claremont on Sunday, Swan Districts have made four changes to the Rogers Cup team with Madi Fisher, Macey Johnson, Reaghan Lynch and Isla McAulay into the line-up.

Going out are Remy Davis, Willow Baker, Batica Borsic and Keeva Martindale.

Subiaco are also coming off that loss to East Fremantle and Ebony Antulov, Scarlet Gallo, Lacey McKay, Niamh Murphy and Mikayla Woods are into the team to face Swan Districts.

Going out for the Lions are Macy Bruce, Ellen MacGillivray, Jayde Gillard, Emily White and Ava Cooper.
