Round 8 Men’s Preview v Perth

Round 8 Men’s Preview v Perth

Not only is Saturday a big game for Swan Districts taking on Perth in the WAFL Men’s competition, but the club is taking part in the DIY Big Freeze to fundraise to the amazing cause of FightMND.

Never could it be a more meaningful time to be part of the cause either following the passing of the man who started it all, Neale Daniher AO, and Swan Districts will be playing their part this Saturday at Steel Blue Oval.

To help commemorate the occasion, games record holder Tony Notte along with Tallan Ames, Awhina Rutene and Scott Cummings among those who will be confirmed to be getting dunked while Nic Naitanui will be the Big Freeze Host.

All the festivities will get underway at 2pm at Steel Blue Oval and that leads into the action of the League game with Swan Districts playing Perth starting at 2:30pm.

Swan Districts are back home for a second straight week trying to hit back from last Saturday’s 40-point loss to Subiaco with the black-and-whites now sitting down in ninth place on the WAFL table with a 2-5 record.

Perth are sitting in fifth place with a 4-3 record and coming into the Saturday clash fresh off a thumping 78-point victory at Lathlain’s Mineral Resources Park against the winless West Perth.

Perth won both meetings between the two teams last year as they returned to play finals in 2025 but prior to that and Swan Districts had enjoyed life recently against the Demons.

Swans had won eight of the previous nine meetings going back to the start of 2020 and have won five of the past six games where they have hosted Perth at Steel Blue Oval.

Swan Districts are attempting to rebound from that loss to Subiaco and have made three changes to the team with Ethyn Kane, Blake Kelly and Jez Rigoni into the line-up.

Going out for the Swans are Luke Taylor, Ayden Cartwright and Brandon Erceg.

Perth are coming off a monstrous win over West Perth and as a result have made just the one change with Angus Luers into the team and Oscar Hine-Baston going out.

It’s the Colts contest that gets things underway on Saturday at Steel Blue Oval with Swan Districts taking on Perth from 9am.

Swans are fresh off a thumping 75-point win in the Colts last Saturday against Subiaco also at Steel Blue Oval while the Demons suffered a 50-point defeat also at home to West Perth back on Friday night.

That leaves Swan Districts sitting in fifth position in the Colts with a 2-4 record and while Perth are on the same record, they are down in eighth place thanks to percentage.

That leads into the Reserves contest between Swan Districts and Perth that will get underway at Steel Blue Oval at 11:30am.

The Swans are fresh off beating Subiaco by 46 points last Saturday also at Steel Blue Oval while the Demons also had a 29-point victory against West Perth on their home deck.

That leaves Swan Districts as the lone remaining undefeated team at 6-0 in the Reserves as they take on a Perth team who sits in sixth position with a 3-3 record.
