Round 6 Men’s Preview v East Fremantle

It’s the last game in the WAFL Men’s competition ahead of next week’s State game break and Swan Districts will be looking to go into that with winning momentum when they host East Fremantle on Saturday.

Swan Districts returns home to Steel Blue Oval for the first time in three weeks to take on the Sharks on Saturday with the Colts underway at 9:15am followed by the Reserves at 11:45am and then the League match starts at 2:30pm.

Both teams come into the Round 6 clash looking for some winning momentum to take into the State game break as well with Swans having so far won just once in 2026 and the Sharks having just the two wins to their credit.

Each team is coming off losses too with the Swans losing to Claremont by 39 points at Revo Fitness Stadium last Saturday while the Sharks went down to Perth at The Good Grocer Park by 31 points.

It’s the first time the two teams have played since Swan Districts beat East Fremantle in Round 11 last year at The Good Grocer Park which snapped an eight-game run out of outs for the Swans against the Sharks.

Prior to that win last year for Swan Districts, East Fremantle had won eight straight against them from Round 17, 2021 through until Round 5 last year which was the last time the two teams have met at Steel Blue Oval until this Saturday afternoon.

Swan Districts key defender Jake Pasini successfully returned from his knee reconstruction last week against Claremont. He is looking to build on that and enjoy his first home game in more than 12 months on Saturday against the Sharks.

“It’s been a long time between breaks for myself I suppose to get to play a home game and my last game was against East Freo at home in Round 5 last year,” Pasini said.

“It’s fitting to come back home and play my first game back at home against them as well.

“Hopefully we run over the top of them boys and we get it done, and we go into the bye 2-4 which would be great. It will be good to start getting that momentum going coming into the bye.”

Swan Districts have made three changes to the team that lost to Claremont last week with Will Collins back to join up with Pasini in the back-line once more while Ayden Cartwright, Luke Taylor and Zane Trew are the other inclusions.

Going out for the black-and-whites are Luke Cotellessa, Max Chipper, Brandon Erceg and Brad Lynch.

East Fremantle are trying to bounce back from a loss to Perth with Elijah Burrows, Chadd Dunscombe, Harper Fox and premiership player Tom Joyce coming into the side.

Going out for the Sharks are Zac Petersen, Oliver McManus, Toby Alker and Eric Benning.

The day’s action at Steel Blue Oval begins on Saturday morning with the Colts match up with Swan Districts taking on East Fremantle from 9:15am.

Swans come into the match up still hunting a first win of the season in the Colts competition for 2026 while the Sharks so far have won four of their five matches.

Going back to last week and the Swans put in a competitive showing before losing to Claremont by 21 points while East Fremantle kept their winning run going with the 62-point hammering of Perth on their home turf.

That leads into the Reserves contest that will get underway at 11:45am and it’s the opposite story from the Colts between Swan Districts and East Fremantle.

The Swans are so far undefeated in the Reserves competition having won all four matches so far by an average of 37 points while the Sharks are winless and have been losing by an average of 67 points.

Just going back to last week and Swan Districts beat Claremont by 22 points at Revo Fitness Stadium while the Sharks went down by 45 points to Perth at The Good Grocer Park.
