Friday, July 12, 2019 - 2:36 PM - by Chris Pike

SWAN Districts will look to put together a four-quarter performance on Saturday against East Fremantle to score a win on the road to snap the current losing run and in turn move off the bottom of the WAFL ladder.

East Fremantle hosts Swan Districts on Saturday afternoon with both teams desperate to return to the winner's list as they currently occupy the bottom two positions on the ladder.

East Fremantle produced a good month of football with wins against Swan Districts, Perth and East Perth in amongst the WA Day Foundation Derby loss to South Fremantle, but the Sharks haven’t been able to continue that momentum.

SWAN Districts turned in a tremendous WAFL Women's performance on Saturday at Steel Blue Oval to beat Subiaco by 14 points on the back of holding the Lions scoreless in the last quarter.

Subiaco might have been the standout WAFLW team so far this season but Swan Districts opened up the competition significantly with their tremendous performance at Steel Blue Oval on Saturday afternoon.

No NAIDOC Week glory for Swans against Royals

Tuesday, July 9, 2019 - 6:54 PM - by Chris Pike

SWAN Districts produced another impressive first half but couldn’t quite keep it going against East Perth as part of the WAFL NAIDOC Round at Steel Blue Oval on Saturday.

Desperately searching for a third victory of the season and lifted with the presence of some energetic new faces in the team including Dylan Smith and Aidan Clarke, Swan Districts came out playing some tremendous football in the first half.

Swans would go on to lead by 13 points at half-time as well in the game as part of NAIDOC Round in the WAFL. But the Royals went on to kick four goals to one in the second half to claim the 8.17 (65) to 8.9 (57).

In Their Words – Brandon Erceg Round 13

Friday, July 5, 2019 - 2:49 PM - by Brandon Erceg

LAST time I wrote for this column, the weather was nice, the energy in the group was high after only losing due to missing a kick after the siren against a strong South Fremantle side, I was still a chance of playing some footy this year and the season was still very much promising in terms of potentially playing finals.

Eight more losses and only two wins later, with winter well and truly kicking in, and some might say it has been a season to forget. But as they often say in basketball, when you take a deeper look into the box score, it shouldn’t be viewed as all doom and gloom.

Of our nine losses, two have come by under 10 points, two by a goal or less including a missed shot after the siren, a 14-point loss to East Freo after only being two points down at three quarter-time, and being overrun by Claremont after only being one point down at three quarter-time. It might sound like I’m making excuses or trying to justify our losses, but I’m not; as a club we need to get better and find a way to win more of those games than we lose when the opportunity presents.

Swans no match in Mandurah for Thunder

Tuesday, July 2, 2019 - 3:35 PM - by Chris Pike

IT was an afternoon to forget for Swan Districts in Mandurah on Saturday with the black-and-whites managing just the one goal in the first half before going on to lose to Peel Thunder by 79 points.

It was the first time Swans took on the Thunder for the 2019 WAFL season and while they did head to Mandurah's David Grays Arena with high hopes of a bounce back victory, it wasn’t to be.

Swan Districts came into the game with tough losses to Perth, Claremont and West Perth, and then Saturday turned into the most disappointing showing so far of 2019 with Peel running out 19.11 (125) to 7.4 (46) victors. Read More [+]
