Round 6 WAFLW Match Report

Both the WAFL Women’s and Rogers Cup teams continued their perfect seasons for 2026 with impressive Sunday Round 6 victories against East Perth.

It was a full day of female football action at Leederville’s Sullivan Logistics Stadium on Sunday and the WAFL Women’s clash saw Swan Districts beat the Royals 10.9 (69) to 3.2 (20) before the Rogers Cup team followed up with the 6.11 (47) to 2.4 (16) victory.

Swan Districts came into the WAFL Women’s clash looking to not only remain undefeated this season, but also against the Royals in the competition and they made a dominant start with the only three goals of the first quarter.

Swans ended up turning that into the eventual 49-point triumph to improve to a perfect 6-0 to start the season to remain the only team yet to lose in 2026.

Ash Sharp is settling right back into playing in the WAFL Women’s nicely having returned in 2026 by kicking another four goals on Sunday from nine kicks to go with four marks and three tackles.

Jaime Henry continued her dominant form in the midfield for the Swans by finishing with another 28 possessions, seven tackles, four marks and a goal.

Luka Davis also collected 21 disposals for the black-and-whites, Grace Hirst 19, Jess Cox 18, Naomi Baker 17, Makaela Grau 15 and Tamzyn Beros 14.

Lauren Quaife also marked her return from suspension to put in a strong showing in the ruck to finish with 16 possessions, 24 hit outs and four tackles.

It took almost six minutes for the first goal of the game with Swan Districts getting on the board courtesy of Keira Fawcett.

Then following a string of scoring four behinds, Swans also kicked the second goal of the contest thanks to Jess Cox before Chloe Reilly added another while holding East Perth scoreless to lead by 22 points at quarter-time.

Swan Districts also kicked the first goal of the second quarter at the 12-minute mark courtesy of Ash Sharp before the Royals did get on the board just before half-time with a goal Stefany Stack.

The Swans were still leading by 20 points at half-time before it only took three minutes of the second half for that to be out to 26 points with a goal to Shaya Yarran.

Jaime Henry then stretched the lead out to 32 when she kicked truly and the lead was still 29 by three quarter-time even with a late goal the way of the Royals.

Swan Districts then completed the sixth straight win to start the season with another four goals in the last term including three of those courtesy of Sharp with the other from Emily McGuire to complete the 49-point victory.

Following on from that WAFL Women’s match up, the Rogers Cup game took place at Sullivan Logistics Stadium with Swan Districts going on to score the 6.11 (47) to 2.4 (16) victory against East Perth.

It was a flying start from the Swans with seven scoring shots to one with three of those being goals to one from the Royals for the 16-point quarter-time advantage.

Swan Districts managed to kick the only goal of the second quarter to then go into the half-time break with the 20-point edge.

The Swans also kicked the lone goal of the third term to see that lead stretch to 32 points by three quarter-time before there was one goal apiece in the final stanza with the black-and-whites staying unbeaten with the 31-point victory.

Adi Griffith kicked three goals in the win with one apiece to Asha Ascoli, Khalia Fawcett and Zoe Tickner.
