Round 5 Men’s Preview v Claremont

The tests keep coming early this WAFL Men’s season for Swan Districts but Saturday presents a chance to make a statement against the undefeated Claremont at Revo Fitness Stadium.

It’s Round 5 of the 2026 WAFL season and for Swan Districts that means remaining on the road on Saturday to take on Claremont at Revo Fitness Stadium.

The day’s action gets underway with the Colts at 8:55am followed by the Reserves at 11.25am and then the League match up at 2:10pm.

Swan Districts come into the contest with one win and three losses for the season so far as they take on a Claremont team who remains the lone team yet to lose in 2026 on the back of four impressive victories.

The Saturday match up continues the challenging start for the Swans to the season on the back of starting against the two grand final teams from last year before beating West Perth, and then losing last Sunday in a heart stopper against the West Coast Eagles by a solitary point.

Claremont have won their four matches against West Perth, Peel Thunder, South Fremantle and East Fremantle now by an average of 50.3 points.

The two teams did meet twice in 2025 with Claremont winning on both occasions by a combined 80 points but back in 2024 it was Swan Districts winning both encounters by 24 points, and prior to that it was the Tigers having won three straight against the black-and-whites.

Swan Districts forward Zach Provest is looking forward to the challenge against an undefeated Claremont outfit.

“It’s a chance to attack a team that is on fire and just had a great result last week,” Provest said.

“It’s the same as against Eagles, we’ll go in with a plan and hopefully we can stick to it and the great thing about the WAFL being a bit of a smaller league and every week is a game that any team can win.

“There’s no sort outliers amongst the comp and we go into every week thinking we can win and we hopefully we do that this Saturday.”

Coming off that one-point loss to West Coast on Sunday, Swan Districts have made three changes for Saturday’s clash with Claremont and there are some significant inclusions.

Key defender Jake Pasini and full-forward Leigh Kohlmann are in for the first time this season to take on the Tigers with Chase Loftus the other inclusion earning the reward for strong Reserves form.

Going out for the Swans are Jez Rigoni, Otis Harvey and Lucas Impey.

Coming off last week’s hammering of East Fremantle, there has been no need for change at Claremont with Adam Boules, Josh Howard, Ronin O’Connor and Joel Western named as the emergencies heading into Saturday should they still be needed in the League side.

The day of action between Swan Districts and Claremont at Revo Fitness Stadium will get underway on Saturday morning at 8:55am when the Colts match up begins.

Swan Districts are still searching for a first win in the Colts having so far lost their three matches prior to the bye last week while Claremont has won three of their four matches to be sitting in third position on the ladder.

The Swans were last in action in the Colts back in Round 3 when they suffered a 42-point defeat against West Perth at Steel Blue Oval.

Claremont, meanwhile, played a thriller against East Fremantle back on Sunday morning also at home and ended up winning by a solitary point to improve to a 3-1 record ahead of playing host to Swan Districts this Saturday.

That leads into the Reserves match up that gets underway at 11:25am with Swan Districts returning to action after a week off and trying to keep their undefeated run going against Claremont.

Before the break last week while the league team were playing the Eagles, Swans had won all three of their Reserves matches of the season by an average of 42 points.

Claremont come into the Round 5 clash on Saturday having won two and lost two from their opening four matches as well in the Reserves so far in 2026.

Prior to the bye and Swans kept their winning run going beating West Perth emphatically by 74 points while Claremont took on East Fremantle on Anzac Day last week and also hammered East Fremantle by 104 points.

That sets the stage nicely for a battle in the Reserves between two teams in dominant form in their last hit outs.
