Round 4 WAFLW Match Report

Swan Districts remain the lone undefeated team so far in the WAFL Women’s season for 2026 holding on in a frantic finish to beat West Perth by a solitary goal at Steel Blue Oval on Saturday.

Swans put their perfect record this season on the line when hosting West Perth at Steel Blue Oval and they were in control for a lot of the contest leading by 25 points at half-time.

However, they couldn’t manage a goal in the second half and West Perth were surging but Swans were just able to hold on in the finish to win 7.8 (50) to 6.8 (44) and improve to the perfect 4-0 record after the opening four rounds.

Of the seven goals that Swan Districts kicked in the win, there were two each that came from Taylah Edwards, Summer Yarran and Ashley Sharp.

Jaime Henry continued her scintillating form in the midfield again for the Swans and finished with another 37 possessions, seven tackles, five marks and two entries inside the forward 50.

Luka Davis also collected 19 disposals while laying eight tackles with Summer Ajduk having 18 touches, Chloe Reilly 17, Jemma Sly 16, Isa Edgley 15 and Jess Cox 14.

Then there was Tamzyn Beros who stepped up in the absence of the suspended Lauren Quaife in the ruck for 16 possessions, 20 hit outs and three tackles.

The Round 4 WAFL Women’s match up got underway on Saturday afternoon and Swan Districts got on the board first with a goal to Taylah Edwards at the seven-minute mark.

West Perth then scored a string of four behinds before eventually managing a goal only for Swans to respond quickly through Ashley Sharp for the five-point lead at quarter-time.

Swan Districts then made a flying start to the second quarter with quick goals to Summer Yarran and Edwards before Sharp kicked her second at the eight-minute mark and the lead had got out to 25 points.

That’s where it remained at half-time with goals to Tyla Fitzgerald and a second to Yarran before the break.

West Perth did manage the first goal of the third quarter and that would prove the only one kicked before three quarter-time with Swan Districts going into the last change still leading by 21 points.

The Falcons then were the only team to score in the final term and got back within six points in the dying stages but couldn’t quite get any closer with Swans holding on to win by a goal and stay perfect so far in 2026.

The Rogers Cup match up took place at Steel Blue Oval on Friday night and it was a strong showing once more from Swan Districts to beat West Perth 7.11 (53) to 2.5 (17).

The victory means that Swans remain clear on top of the Rogers Cup ladder having won all four matches so far in 2026 and Friday night’s win was all the more impressive considering West Perth have won the last three premierships of the competition.

It was a flying start at home for the Swans with seven scoring shots to one in the first quarter, and three goals to one to already be leading by 16 points at quarter-time.

Swan Districts then kicked the only goal of the second term to be on top by 23 points at half-time before another three goals in the last quarter secured the 36-point victory.

Lara Sherborne starred in attack for Swans by kicking four goals with a goal each as well to Madi Fisher, Lily Williamson and Lilyanah Baker.
