Swan Districts kicked three of the four goals in the game in the WAFLWs competition on Saturday evening to beat West Perth at Joondalup to retain top spot.
Swans did battle with the Falcons at HIF Health Insurance Oval on Saturday evening and kicked two goals to one in the first quarter, and then the only other goal for the rest of the contest.
That saw Swan Districts end up securing the 3.10 (28) to 1.4 (10) victory against West Perth to retain top spot in the WAFL Women’s competition now sitting on a 12-2 record to remain percentage ahead of Claremont by the end of Round 15.
Ash Sharp kicked another two goals in attack in the win for Swan Districts to continue her standout return season as a mother-of-three with the other goal kicked by Taylah Edwards.
Speaking of remarkable seasons, Jaime Henry continued her dazzling form in the midfield to rack up another 40 possessions to go with five marks, five inside-50 entries and three tackles.
Jess Cox also finished with 22 disposals, Meg Carron 16, Chloe Reilly 15, Courtney Ugle 15, Jemma Sly 14, Tamzyn Beros 14 and Lauren Quaife 10 in the ruck to go with 24 hit outs.
Swan Districts arrived at Joondalup on Saturday afternoon needing to keep winning to maintain their hold on top spot in the WAFL Women’s competition and made a strong start with the first goal of the contest thanks to Taylah Edwards inside five minutes.
Ash Sharp also kicked another before quarter-time for Swans to be leading by nine points at the first break before neither team managed a goal in the second quarter.
Swan Districts did kick three more behinds to be leading by 12 points at half-time before Sharp kicked her second of the game early in the third quarter, and by three quarter-time the Swans were leading by 21 points.
Neither team managed a goal in the final term either with Swans going on to secure the 18-point victory to retain top spot as a result.
The afternoon got underway at HIF Health Insurance Oval with Swan Districts continuing their winning ways in the Rogers Cup with the 7.7 (49) to 6.0 (36) victory against West Perth.
West Perth did start the better on their home deck with the only two goals of the first quarter before Swans got going in the second by kicking three goals to two.
That saw them go into half-time with the six-point lead but the swings continued and the Falcons kicked two goals to one in the third quarter to see scores all level by three quarter-time.
Swan Districts then took charge from there with three goals to one in the last quarter to end up winning by 13 points with 14 scoring shots to six to improve to a 12-2 record to remain clear on top of the Rogers Cup.
Adi Griffith had a standout performance up forward in the win for the Swans kicking five goals with Brianna North and Madison Fisher kicking one goal apiece.
