Round 14 Women’s Preview v East Perth

Swan Districts is back to Steel Blue Oval for Pride and Past Player Day this Saturday with the chance to further consolidate a finals position up against the bottom placed East Perth.

Swans will be taking on East Perth at 2:10pm on Saturday afternoon at the Bassendean venue in the WAFL Women’s match up which follows the Rogers Cup clash between the two sides that begins at 12:05pm.

Coming into the Round 14 clash and Swan Districts remains in fourth position on the WAFL Women’s ladder with a 7-4 record despite last week’s nine-point loss to the league-leading and undefeated Claremont.

That was a competitive showing from the black-and-whites against the team in top spot as they now prepare to play a Royals team sitting in bottom place.

East Perth is currently in last spot in the WAFL Women’s competition having now lost eight straight matches since their lone win of the season back in Round 4 against league newcomer’s Perth.

It’s a crucial game in the context of the season for Swan Districts too with a win to further consolidate themselves inside a finals spot and potentially to even return to third position depending on how other results fall over the weekend.

The two teams did start the 2025 season playing one another at Sullivan Logistics Stadium and on that occasion it was Swan Districts scoring the 30-point victory.

In that win, Emily McGuire kicked three goals for Swans and Summer Yarran two while Carys D’Addario racked up 25 possessions, Luka Davis 20, Jaime Henry 19, Kayley King 17 and Lauren Quaife 14 in the ruck to go with 22 hit outs.

Coming off the narrow loss for Swans last week against Claremont, there is just one change for Saturday’s match with Emma Nanut returning and Emma Humphries going out to join Makaela Grau, Karri Parnham and Sienna Pollard as emergencies.

East Perth went down by 60 points last week against South Fremantle and from that team, Abby Critchell, Brianna Hyde, Tierra Miller, Lillian Ninyett and Kahra Sprlyan all come into the team.

That means that Hyde will take on her former Swan Districts team on her old home ground while Layla Firns, Olivia Earle, Taylor Drummond, Makayla Pugliese-Thompson and Jorja Elisseou are those going out for the Royals.

The Rogers Cup match up between Swan Districts and East Perth will open proceedings on Saturday afternoon at Steel Blue Oval in what is another crucial match up for the black-and-whites.

Swans currently sit in third position on the Rogers Cup ladder with seven wins, three losses and a draw, and they can further consolidate that third place with another win on Saturday while staying a chance still to break into the top two.

Swan Districts are coming off a 33-point win last week against Claremont and will look to keep that momentum going up against an East Perth team sitting in bottom spot after a 45-point defeat last Friday night against South Fremantle.

The Royals have just one win and a draw so far this season from 11 matches which included back in Round 1 a 14-point win for Swans when the teams last met at Sullivan Logistics Stadium.

Coming into Saturday’s game for Swans and coming off last week’s win against Claremont, Jaya Abbott, Shylah Barker, Nahala Hall and Destiny Tiet are into the team.

Going out for the black-and-whites are Eloise Moore, Kirrali Richmond, Shanae Morisey and Khalia Fawcett.

East Perth has made plenty of changes too with Sophie Demasi, Nia Dias-Kelly, Charlie Filear, Charlize Guidi and Amalie Lawrie into the team.

Going out for the Royals are Stella Bardon, Havana Milner, Giaan Versace, Krystelle Marion and Ruby Eastaugh.
