Fritz Lange inducted into the Swans Hall of Fame

Fritz Lange is the fifth of six inductees  into the Swan Districts Football Club’s Hall of Fame in 2025, joining Mike Richardson, Cyril Litterick, Josh Roberts and Jack Hickling.

The Swans Hall of Fame selection criteria requires at least one administrator or volunteer to be inducted for every 10 other nominees across successive ceremonies. Lange falls into this category on the back of Richard (Dick) Alexander McDonald in 2023 and joins Jack Hickling in the 2025 Induction.

Following RA (Dick) McDonald, Lange was the club’s second President in 1935 – 36, after serving as Vice President in the club’s inaugural 1934 season. He returned for four more years as President in 1938 – 42.

Lange was the right-hand man to R.A. McDonald in establishing the club pre-1934 and was awarded Life Membership in 1938.

He was President of Midland Football Club in 1920 – 1934 and was instrumental in getting Midland to accept the arrival of the Swan Districts Football Club.

The club’s first real recruiting campaign came in 1936 and Lange played a key role in recruiting Bert Chandler, the 1936 Captain-Coach, and Clem Rosewarne, the 1940 Swan medallist and Captain-Coach.

Another milestone in Lange’s tenure as President was the opening of the RA McDonald Stand in July 1938, which also provided the young club with much needed clubrooms.

He also played an important role in holding the club together during the war years, where league dividends fell and the Army took possession of the McDonald Stand.

The remaining Hall of Fame 2025 inductee will be announced in the coming weeks.

These will be officially recognised at the Swan Districts Hall of Fame Induction evening to be held at the club on Saturday 26th July 2025. It’s a wonderful opportunity for supporters to meet Swans royalty in person.

Tickets cost $120 and includes dinner and complimentary drinks on arrival.
