Wheelchair AFL Season Wrap Up

Wednesday, December 4, 2024 - 10:45 AM

Our Wheelchair football team has just finished their season in the Wheelchair AFL competition, with a total of 11 players, which included all abilities players Jackson Foskett and Lewis Collins playing a total of 5 games as well as Disability and Inclusion Coordinator Jorja Perdija playing 3 games.

The team was off to a slow start losing their first four games of the year to Subiaco (93-22), East Fremantle (102-53), West Coast (85-34) and East Perth (69-51). Telethon round held at RAC arena was the team's first win of the season against East Fremantle (57-26). It also included a debutant with All Abilities player Will Brensell coming into the side.

The team continued to put on strong performances for the final few games of the regular season with two of our games with wins on the siren! In the end, they finished a very well-deserved 4th place with a total of 4 wins and 6 losses, guaranteeing them an elimination final against East Perth. Their season came to an end losing on the siren to East Perth (74-68), narrowly missing out on a semifinal.

Many thanks to our main sponsor Telethon for all their continued support, we cannot wait for a bigger and better season in 2025 where we will be celebrating our 5th season in the wheelchair competition.
