Round 4 Women’s Preview v West Perth
It has been a blistering start to the 2026 WAFLW competition from Swan Districts and they will attempt to remain undefeated when playing host to West Perth on Saturday at Steel Blue Oval.
Round 4 of the WAFLW season will see Swan Districts back home at Steel Blue Oval to take on the Falcons at 12:25pm on Saturday afternoon.
That will come after the Rogers Cup match up between the Swans and West Perth that will also be played at Bassendean on Friday night at 6:30pm.
After last year’s one-point grand final defeat, Swan Districts have made the best possible start to the 2026 season in the WAFL Women’s with wins against Claremont, South Fremantle and East Fremantle.
Last Friday night’s win away to the Sharks continued to have plenty of reasons to be impressed with what Swans are doing so far in 2026 with Jaime Henry racking up another 31 possessions while Naomi Baker racked up 21, Luka Davis 21, Jess Cox 19 and Chloe Reilly 18 against her former team.
The Swans now take on a Falcons team who started their season beating Subiaco by 11 points before going down to Claremont by just two points before having the Round 3 bye.
Swan Districts beat East Fremantle by 23 points last Friday night and there are three changes to that team with co-captain Eliza Gelmi returning with Emily McGuire making her first appearance of the season and Shaya Yarran also coming in.
Lauren Quaife goes out for Swans through suspension with Kayley King and Courtney Ugle also out of the line-up.
West Perth had the bye last week in the WAFL Women’s competition after a two-point loss to Claremont the previous week with Cara Dziegielewski, Stacey Francis-Bayman, Tahlee McVee and Lexi Strachan into the team to take on Swans.
Going out for the Falcons are Sienna Pollard, Jasmine Giles, Kaitlyn Roper and Jorgina Kean.
The weekend’s action begins on Friday night with the Rogers Cup contest at Steel Blue Oval with Swan Districts so far undefeated after the opening three matches against a West Perth team yet to taste a win in 2026.
Not only have the WAFL Women’s team at Swan Districts started on fire, but it’s been a similar story in the Rogers Cup with the wins against Claremont, South Fremantle and East Fremantle.
West Perth have been the dominant team in the Rogers Cup including winning the last three premierships, but now as those players graduate to senior football, there’s been a big turnover for 2026 and the Falcons have lost their first two games against Subiaco and Claremont.
Swan Districts are coming off beating East Fremantle by nine points last Friday night while West Perth lost by 37 points to Claremont two weeks ago before the Round 3 bye.
