Mabel Spashett inducted into the Swans Hall of Fame

Mabel Spashett is the sixth and final inductee into the Swan Districts Football Club’s Hall of Fame in 2025, joining Mike Richardson, Cyril Litterick, Josh Roberts, Jack Hickling and Fritz Lange.

Spashett didn’t have a high profile in the club but was well known by everyone as she literally did a mountain of work behind the scenes.

She was a member of the club’s Swans Women’s Associate Members when it was first formed in 1971, became Vice President in 1978 – 79 and was President for 25 years, from 1980 to 2004.

The Swams, as it was affectionately known, ran between 1971 – 2009, providing match day lunches and helping club fundraising by again providing food and drinks for events like junior carnivals and women’s football.

Spashett was awarded Life Membership in 1990 and is the first woman to be inducted into the club’s Hall of Fame.

These will be officially recognised at the Swan Districts Hall of Fame Induction evening to be held at the club on Saturday 26th July 2025. It’s a wonderful opportunity for supporters to meet Swans royalty in person.

Tickets cost $120 and includes dinner and complimentary drinks on arrival.
