Tania Lawrence Joins Swans as Co-Patron

Swan Districts Football Club is delighted to annouce that the Federal Member for Hasluck, Tania Lawrence has agreed to join the club as a Co-Patron.
Lawrwence will join long time Co-Patron and Swans supporter Dr Bruce Robinson, a Professor of Medicine, the West Australian of the Year 2013-14, and Founding Director of The Fathering Project.
“We’re thrilled to have Tania on board,” said club President Peter Hodyl.
“The new Hasluck electorate boundary now includes the Town of Bassendean as well as the City of Swan, which is a significant portion of our club’s metropolitan zone. Tania has been a long time supporter of our great club.”
Lawrence is also excited to join the club.
“Bassendean, in particular, is a special place for me. As a Swan Districts supporter since childhood, I would sit on the grassy bank at Bassendean Oval with my father and grandfather cheering on the mighty Swans.”
“It’s an honour to represent the people of my entire electorate, and it’s a personal pleasure to have so many Swans supporters in that electorate.”
Tania didn’t play football herself (apart from kicking the ball around at half time) as in the 70s and 80s female participation was limited to sporting codes like netball. But she was a very keen and active motorcyclist, going on to serve as the first female president of Motorcycling Australia.
She’s been proud to act as a fighter for Hasluck and is thrilled to have been invited to be Co-Patron of the Swan Districts Football Club for 2025.
Lawrence takes over the Co-Patron position from the previous Member for Hasluck Ken Wyatt, who has since become a highly valued member of the club’s Board.
