John Todd Memorial – Steel Blue Oval Sat 15th June

Wednesday, June 5, 2024 - 3:15 PM

The recent loss of one of the club’s Immortals has been felt far and wide among the Swans faithful.

The club will pay homage to John Todd at the next home game on Saturday 15 June against South Fremantle.

This game was already scheduled to be the John Todd Cup, which every year is the first Swan Districts v South Fremantle game of the WAFL season.

However, this year it will now take on additional significance as both clubs celebrate the life of one of West Australia’s sporting heroes.

John Todd was Swan Districts’ most successful and longest serving coach winning 4 Premierships (1982-1984, 1990) over 19 seasons. He also won Premierships coaching East Fremantle (1974) and South Fremantle (1997). He’s in the Swan Districts, South Fremantle and Western Australian Hall of Fames.

The annual Swan Districts WAFL Pride home game will be rescheduled from Saturday 15 June to Saturday 3 August 2024.

The club will continue to acknowledge Tony Notte’s 300 Swan Districts game milestone on the day, but the focus of this will largely be in the pre and post-game functions.

The planned supporters and past players pre-game guard of honour for Tony on the oval will be re-scheduled to the club’s NAIDOC home game on Saturday 13 July when it anticipates Tony will equal club Immortal Bill Walker’s record of 305 league games.
