Round 11 WAFLW Preview v Subiaco
The WAFLW season resumes following last week's State game with Swan Districts looking for consecutive wins and to attempt to break back into the top four by taking on Subiaco on Saturday.
Round 11 of the WAFLW season will see Swan Districts hit the road to take on Subiaco at Leederville's Sullivan Logistics Stadium with the game to get underway at 11.10am.
The WAFLW season took a break last week for the State game against the SANFLW at Optus Stadium.
While South Australia scored the 7.7 (49) to 5.3 (33) win, Swan Districts pair Lauren Quaife and Eliza Gelmi represented Western Australia with distinction.
Swans will now be back in action this Saturday at Leederville on the back of handing Claremont its first defeat of the season two weeks ago, and now attempting to keep that momentum going against a Lions team on a four-game losing run.
Swan Districts come into Round 11 of the WAFLW season sitting in fifth position but just percentage out of fourth position and a win on Saturday could see them back inside the top four by the end of the weekend.
It was only back in Round 6 when the teams last met and that took place at Steel Blue Oval with Swan Districts scoring the 8.4 (52) to 4.10 (34) victory.
On that afternoon, Swans started on fire with four goals to one in the first quarter and then kicked the only two in the last term with Lily Paterson, Courtney Zappara and Taylah Edwards kicking two goals apiece.
Paterson also racked up 26 possessions, Zappara 19, Hope Ugle-Hayward 16, Isabella Edgley 14 and Tamzyn Beros 13 to go with 10 hit outs.
Meanwhile for Subiaco, Krstel Petrevski picked up 24 touches, Hayley Corlett 20 and Eva Popovsky 18.
From the Swan Districts team that beat Claremont in style two weeks ago, there are just the two changes with Hope Ugle-Hayward and Brianna Hyde coming back into the team.
Going out for the black-and-whites are Emma Nanut and Avi Stewart.
Subiaco is attempting to snap a four-game losing run and from its team that lost to East Fremantle two weeks ago, there are five changes with Claudia Langley, Krstel Petrevski, Tess Lyons, Eva Popovsky and Aimee Schmidt into the team.
Going out for the Lions are Mikayla Smith, Meg Brown, Lauren Vaisey, Hanna Dethlefsen and Meg Brown.
The Round 11 Rogers Cup match up with Swan Districts facing Subiaco will also take place at Sullivan Logistics Stadium, albeit on Sunday at 10.05am.
Swans come into the game sitting in fourth position on the Rogers Cup ladder with a 5-4 record on the season as they take on a Lions team sitting second at 7-2.
Last week saw Swan Districts narrowly go down to East Fremantle on Saturday at home at Steel Blue Oval, and from that team, Riley Hall, Larrisa MacGregor and Bailey Winter come into the Rogers Cup line-up.
Going out for Swans are Indyana Bird, Beelinda Gallagher and Shanae Morisey.
