Dylan Farrow Wins Maurice Embley Medal
The All Abilities season of the Swan Districts Football Club was celebrated on Friday September 1 with the Maurice Embley Medal ending up being presented to Dylan Farrow as the MVP winner.
The 2023 season was the second for Swan Districts to compete in the WA All Abilities competition in the Perth Football League and once again they managed to make the finals in what was a strong season with plenty of impressive performances.
That was celebrated on Friday night with the awards ceremony to recognise the efforts of the team throughout the season highlighted by the presenting of the Maurice Embley Medal.
It was announced last year that the Maurice Embley Medal will be awarded to the Swan Districts' Integrated team's most valuable player each season in recognition of Maurice's significant contributions.
He was the initial catalyst about 15 years ago on the club's journey towards launching an Integrated team that came to fruition in 2022 along with being the instigator and champion of the Count Me In Round which has now become a very important date in the Swans calendar each year.
Through his career at the Disability Services Commission, Maurice has played an integral role in the lives of some of the players now involved in the All Abilities team at Swan Districts.
Maurice has had a direct and very important impact on the lives of so many people with disabilities over decades and in recognition of the outstanding work he's done, the club's All Abilities most valuable player award is presented in his honour.
The winner of the Maurice Embley Medal for the 2023 season at Swan Districts in the All Abilities competition was Dylan Farrow.
Dylan was once again able to deliver a standout season for Swan Districts in 2023 with his strong consistent form and ability to be a match winner, and that is recognised by him taking out the Maurice Embley Medal as the MVP of the team.
He wasn’t the only standout performer throughout the season for Swan Districts who ended up reaching A Division Finals this year. Will Brenssell was named runner-up in Maurice Embley Medal voting to come second place for the MVP award after his tremendous performances throughout the season.
The Most Improved Player award went to Lachlan Stoute who showed terrific growth in his game as a strong contributor right throughout his performances during the season.
Another player acknowledged on the night was impressive leader Nathan Ball who was presented with the Most Consistent Player award as he continued to lead from the front for the Swan Districts team.
A player who put in his best efforts right throughout the season as well was Joseph Maxsted and he was presented with the Coaches Award in recognition of his commitment to giving his best for the team week after week.
On top of the players recognised for their contributions on the field during 2023, Leigh Farrow was also named the Best Club Person in thank you to their tremendous and thankless work and commitment throughout the season.
