Referendum on an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice

In what will be a significant point in our Nation’s history and future, the Board of the Swan Districts Football Club, in collaboration with our Swans Aboriginal Advisory Committee, has considered its position in making a statement to support the upcoming referendum to amend the Australian Constitution.

Swan Districts has a strong history with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander players and people since its inception in 1934.

The Swan Districts Football Club supports the First Nations Voice to Parliament being enshrined in the Constitution.

Our position on The Voice is guided by the club’s purpose and values where the club helps create a community where everyone feels they are heard, and they belong.

In consideration of the above, the Swan Districts Football Club fully supports the proposed changes to the constitution to provide a collective voice to First Peoples of Australia.

We recommend that our members and supporters do their own research including understanding the Uluru Statement from the Heart.

It’s the responsibility of every Australian to make an informed decision with the referendum.
