Tallan Ames inducted into the Swans Hall of Fame
Tallan Ames is the fifth out of six inductees to be inducted into the Swan Districts Football Club’s Hall of Fame in 2023. He’ll join Simon Beasley, Leon Baker, Brian Gray, and Eric Gorman.
The Swans Hall of Fame selection criteria requires at least one player who has retired within 15 years of each Hall of Fame induction to be nominated. Shane Beros, Travis Edmonds and Joel Cornelius were previously inducted in this category.
Tallan Ames fits into this category at the 2023 Induction Ceremony.
Ames played a remarkable 16 consecutive seasons with Swans between 2002 and 2017 amassing 263 games, the fourth highest in the club’s history. He played in the 2010 Premiership team and was the League captain for six seasons between 2012 and 2017.
He won the Best First Year Player in 2003 and the Swan Medal in 2011. Ames represented the State 3 times, in 2006, 2011 and 2013, and was awarded club Life Membership in 2011.
Ames was a very versatile player, playing all over the ground throughout his career – ruck, wing, and forward, before finishing his career as one of the club’s best ever full backs.
Since retiring, he has continued to be heavily involved at the Club in the Colts and League programs and also on match days as a ground announcer.
The last 2023 Hall of Fame inductee, together with two elevated Immortals, and a second Iconic Moment will be announced shortly.
These will all be officially recognised at the Hall of Fame Induction evening to be held at the club on Saturday 1st July 2023. It’s a wonderful opportunity for supporters to meet Swans royalty in person.
Tickets cost $100 and includes complimentary drinks on arrival and dinner.
