New Swans Head of Social Impact
Swan Districts Football Club welcomes Jason Burton to the new role Head of Social Impact. Jason will oversee the club’s social impact team responsible for delivering meaningful programs around the State, creating positive social impact and opportunities.
Jason inherently understands the Swans business model as a result of working at the club over the past 12 months as the Perth Social Impact Manager. Prior to this he worked for six years in Indigenous mentoring, managing the delivery of student mentorship programs.
He’s also worked in football in the past, so he understands the nuances of sport and how it’s a language which most people understand.
“The club can use football and now also basketball to start conversations with people in marginalised communities, helping forge relationships, but what’s really exciting is we go beyond sport and into impacting communities in many different ways. If we can build a sense of trust, it allows program participants to build a reciprocal sense of belonging with their community. This in turn provides them a sense of self-worth and self-confidence to make good decisions for themselves”, said Jason.
The club’s Chief Executive Jeff Dennis is thrilled to see Jason elevated into this senior role at the club. “Our club is built on developing people and building community. It’s who we are and what we do. We’re really excited for Jason to help us connect with more people with a club wide focus on improving people’s lives”.
Jason can be contacted on jburton@swandistrictsfc.com and 0459 440 010
