Swans bite back as they take victory from the Bulldogs at home
The Swan Districts League side have ceased their 9-straight losing streak to South Fremantle in Round 6, stopping the clubs worst run of losses against the Bulldogs since the 1970s.
While the League and Reserves were both able to overcome their opponents, the Colts will be ruing their lost opportunities in front of goal, having had the chance to take home their second win of the season.
Check out the rundown for each of the Swan Districts WAFL games below…
WAFL League
In a solid start for the Swans League side, Jesse Palmer, Chris Jones and Mitchell Bain got the black and whites off to a solid start, kicking three goals in the first 15 minutes of the quarter. Moving the ball well around the ground and stopping South Fremantle in attack, their opponents couldn’t get their free-flowing game going, but still managed two majors during this time.
A late goal saw Jones kick his second late of the quarter to see the Swans score 7 times from 11 inside 50s, taking a 14-point lead into the first break.
The Swans started quickly in the second, Lachlan Riley adding their fifth just three minutes in, to extend the lead. Frustration from the Bulldogs became evident after Tarir Bayok was hit late and dirty after taking a mark in the Swans forward half. While players remonstrated, Bayok was given a 50m penalty to extend the home sides lead to 25.
South Fremantle threw everything at the Swans, with the defensive line standing tall for over 17 minutes, until the Bulldogs kicked truly for their first of the quarter. Jesse Palmer responded shortly after before Souths kicked two late goals to close the gap back to the same 14-point deficit, leading into the half time break. The Swans lead the half with 30 more disposals, while doubling both the mark and tackle count of their opponents.
South Fremantle kicked the first goal of the third, before inaccuracy plagued the quarter for both sides. 18 minutes between goals, it was the Swans that were able to convert truly, taking a 15-point lead into the final term.
Missed opportunities in the fourth saw Swans unable to really extend their lead. As Ryan Kemp converted halfway through the final term from 50m out, the game looked all but over with the black and whites 21 points up. A late fightback from the Bulldogs simply wasn’t enough as the Swans held on by nine points to take the SD 9.10 (64) to SF 8.7 (55) victory.
Jesse Turner and Sam Fisher finished the game with 31 disposals apiece, while Josh Cipro had a game high 10 tackles and 7 inside 50s.
The League side now sit in equal fifth on the WAFL ladder, down only on percentage.

The Reserves side have closed in to be just one game outside the top five, after a come-from-behind win against South Fremantle.

Holding their opponents to just four points, while kicking a goal in the second, it was just 5-points that separated the teams heading into the main break.
Able to limit South Fremantle to a single goal, while adding two goals and two behinds themselves, the Swans took the lead for the first time in the match into the final term, up by 3 points.
Going goal for goal in the fourth, both sides converted 3 majors apiece, with the Swans adding a couple more points to take the impressive 7.7 (49) to 6.8 (44) win.

With another four scoring shots apiece in the second, South Fremantle were once again more accurate in front of the big sticks, doubling their lead to 10 points at the half.
The Swans dominated the inside 50s in the third, but inaccuracy plagued the young black and whites. Kicking four goals and five points for the term, scores were level heading into the final quarter.
