WAFLW Supporters Require Proof of Vaccination
The WA Football Commission has mandated that all supporters must show proof of vaccination to enter any WAFLW game this season.
Swan Districts fully supports this move because the club believes it has a responsibility to keep its people safe, including players, staff, volunteers, members and supporters.
The WAFC is also considering introducing this policy to WAFL games.
The club supported the WAFC’s recent mandate that all football staff and players must show proof of vaccination to play and train. The club’s Board extended this to include all club staff and volunteers who attend the club in any capacity.
“Most people anticipate a significant surge in positive cases of Covid-19 when the border opens. It’s critical we prepare for this as much as possible to help prevent the spread of the virus throughout our club”, said Chief Executive Jeff Dennis.
“This is important to not only protect those of us who are more vulnerable, which there are many at our club, but also help prevent the virus from spreading through our football teams. If there’s a large number of players unable to play because they’re unwell or isolating, then we may be forced to postpone or cancel fixtured games.”
“We must do whatever practically possible to mitigate the risk of the virus spreading at our club.”
You can find everything you need to know about Covid-19 on the ServiceWA App including the latest exposure sites so you can determine whether you’re a close contact and whether you need to be tested or only monitor your symptoms.
“To help restrict the spread at the club, it’s important that you find out whether you’ve inadvertently been at an exposure site. The easiest way to find this out is to always check in with the SafeWA App. The contact tracers will then alert you if you need to be tested.
“If you do need to be tested, then please stay away from the club until you’re given the ok by the WA Health Department.”
It’s anticipated the government’s definition of ‘fully vaccinated’ will soon change to include booster shots for everyone from 16 years of age. The club recommends that everyone get their booster when eligible.
