Amber Wins WA Trainee of the Year
Swans WAFLW player and Swans Aboriginal Advisory Committee member Amber Ugle-Hayward won the 2021 West Australian Trainee of the Year Award presented at the WA Training Awards ceremony last week.
Amber is completing a Public Sector Commission Aboriginal Traineeship which includes a placement at the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage and completion of a Certificate III in Government. She also joined the club’s Aboriginal Advisory Committee chaired by Cheryl Thomas which is responsible for engaging, influencing and leading Swans to improve Aboriginal social returns and sense of well-being in the club’s community.
Amber is also helping the club engage with current WAFL and WAFLW Aboriginal players to design the club’s 2022 NAIDOC (WAFL) and Reconciation Week (WAFLW) playing jumpers together with warm up tops for both League teams.
“The club is delighted to assist the careers of our players wherever we can”, says Chief Executive Jeff Dennis.
