Swans Volunteer of the Month
Swan Districts Football Club prides itself on the generosity of its many volunteers helping the club build community and develop people. The breadth of services provided by club volunteers extends from its WAFL, WAFLW and talent teams to its coterie and fundraising groups and an increasing number of community engagement committees.
“The success of clubs like Swans is based on the quantity and quality of its volunteers. It’s increasingly important for clubs like us to have volunteer management plans to support volunteer recruitment and retention”, says club Chief Executive Jeff Dennis.
This strategy included the recent appointment of a Volunteer Coordinator, Nathan Clark. Nathan has been busy in the last couple of months registering the club with Volunteering WA, recruiting new volunteers, organising social events for club volunteers, and creating a monthly volunteer recognition award.
In recognition of the importance of the club’s volunteers there will be a Swans Volunteer of the Month award presented each month. One volunteer will be selected and recognised for the service they provide.
The Swans Volunteer of the Month for June is David Ciancosi.
David has been volunteering his time with Swans for the past five years with both the Swansmen and WAFL Senior teams. He provides an invaluable service at training sessions during the week and provides team management for games on the weekend. He also ensures the club complies with all WAFL regulations on game days and is a tremendous support to the Football Department.
He is being presented with the award as an appreciation of his tireless work for the club helping the team raise the bar to ensure they are the best they can be.
