WAFLW Round 9 Preview v South Fremantle

SWAN Districts might have all but wrapped up the minor premiership for the WAFLW season ahead of a clash with the winless South Fremantle at Steel Blue Oval on Saturday afternoon.
The game will be played as Round 9 in the season with it taking place this weekend after it was postponed three weeks ago courtesy of the COVID-19 lockdown.
Last Sunday's thrilling one-point victory over Peel Thunder saw Swan Districts move three games clear on top of the ladder for the Optus WAFLW Premiership Season with a perfect 10-0 record.
And with only four rounds of the home and away season remaining, that puts Swans in prime position to now secure top spot and the minor premiership, and the hosting rights to the second semi-final with the chance to win their way through straight into a second WAFLW Grand Final.
It might look a great mismatch on Saturday at Steel Blue Oval with the undefeated top-of-the-table Swan Districts hosting the winless bottom placed South Fremantle, but Swans still can't afford to take anything for granted.
The two teams first met this season back in Round 2 at Fremantle Community Bank Oval and on that occasion it was Swan Districts beating South Fremantle 8.11 (59) to 1.0 (6).
Saturday's game will just be the second time that Swans and the Bulldogs have locked horns this WAFLW season.
Meanwhile, Swan Districts will take on West Perth in Sunday's Round 9 WAFLW Reserves contest at Joondalup's Provident Financial Oval from 1pm.
Then in the Youth Girls Rogers Cup Round 9 action, Swan Districts will also be taking on West Perth at Joondalup from 3pm.
