David Sidebottom honoured in the Swans Hall of Fame
The Sidebottom name is synonymous with the Swan Districts Football Club.
With over 500 games played between the 6 Sidebottom’s that have pulled on the black and white jumper, it was David who represented the club on the most occasions.
A true Swans man both on and off the field, he played 129 games for the club from 1961 to 1969. In the 1963 grand final, he started on the field as a Rover in their 22 point premiership win against East Fremantle.
David coached the Colts sides in 1977, 78 and 81, taking them to the grand final but falling short against the Sharks.
In 1979 and 1980 he coached the Swans Reserves teams and won the premiership in his first year with them.
David also served on the Board of Directors and Chairman of Selectors for a number of years and was given Life Membership at the club in 1989.
A truly dedicated black duck, David sadly passed away on April 22nd 2018.
Please join us in congratulating David’s family on his well-deserved Swan Districts Hall of Fame induction.
