WAFC Statement: COVID-19 Update 30/4/21
Following yesterday's announcement by the WA State Government regarding easing of restrictions within the Perth and Peel regions from 12.01am, Saturday May 1, the West Australian Football Commission has issued an update surrounding crowd attendance for this weekend.
Spectators will be welcomed back to football across the Perth and Peel regions from Saturday, with venues able to return to previous conditions prior to the lockdown.
As football recommences across the state, clubs, participants and spectators are reminded of the requirement to follow the WA Government restrictions currently in place.
Masks will be mandatory for indoor public venues including clubhouses, changerooms and member facilities. Masks do not need to be worn outside, providing social distancing measures can be achieved.
The two square metre rule continues to apply inside indoor facilities, including clubhouses, changerooms and member facilities.
Clubs, participants and spectators are also reminded of the other COVID safe requirements including checking in on the SafeWA app, personal hygiene measures and not attending any football activities if unwell.
If you are attending games this weekend and cannot maintain social distancing requirements outside, you will need to continue to wear your mask. Please make sure you carry a mask when attending or playing games.
The 2021 Go for 2&5 Metro Junior Football Season and all Auskick sessions will go ahead as planned from Saturday, with spectators welcome to attend the games subject to the above measures.
The Optus WAFL and WAFLW will resume over the weekend, with spectators welcome to attend the games subject to the above measures.
The Perth Football League, Metro Football League, Peel Football & Netball League, Hills Football Association and AFL Masters fixtures are able to resume this weekend, with spectators welcome to attend the games subject to the above measures.
WAFC CEO Michael Roberts welcomed the return of crowds for the weekend.
“We understand the important role that spectators play in supporting the sustainability of our clubs right across WA,” Roberts said.
“The ability to have crowds enables families, parents and friends to attend games over the weekend, this is particularly exciting given the beginning of our Junior competitions and Auskick sessions on Saturday.
“We will continue to remain flexible throughout the football season, putting the health and wellbeing of our participants and the community at the forefront of our decision making.”
Conditions of entry for all WAFL and WAFLW games
All Swans supporters travelling to away games this weekend must abide by the following conditions of entry. This is important so we can continue to play WAFL and WAFLW games during the ongoing COVID 19 restrictions.
- Masks must be worn when entering the ground , at all times inside (except when you are eating or drinking) and outdoors when you are unable to maintain the 1.5m rule. To be safe we ask that all spectators wear masks throughout the match.
- Check in through the SafeWA app or on our physical registry is mandatory.
- There will be restrictions on the amount of people allowed in all indoor facilities to adhere to the 2sqm rule.
- For this week, Members and supporters are NOT allowed in the changerooms at any stage.
- Members and supporters are still welcome to listen to the 1/4 time and 3/4 time addresses, however masks are mandatory as social distancing will not be possible.
- There will be no Kid Zone this Saturday at Leederville Oval, however attendees are allowed to kick the footy on the oval at breaks.
- If you are feeling unwell, please do not attend
