Round 6, 2020 WAFLW Team Selection

Friday, August 21, 2020 - 12:39 PM by Matthew Ogg

A win for the Swan Districts and Peel Thunder league sides this Saturday will all but guarantee the victor a spot in this season’s finals series.

Having beaten the Thunder by a single goal in Round 1 at David Grays Arena, the black ducks will be looking at continuing their strong onfield form of the past few weeks, looking to rack up a hat-trick of wins.

The question on the minds of Swans and Dockers fans alike is; will this be the week Ashley Sharp plays her first game for 2020 in the black and white, after having been named in the extended squad for the past two weeks.

With everything to play for, expect to see a physical, fast-paced and high pressure game with players putting in strong efforts to cement their place in the team before finals.

Players to watch:

It will be the battle of the leading goal scorers, with defender-turned-forward, Fiona Boucher, being named back in defence, to kerb Kira Phillips impact on the scoreboard.

Coming off a best on ground performance, blink and you’ll miss speedy youngster, Tara Stribley, through the middle of the ground and floating up forward.

Having played down back for the majority of the season so far, Aimee Ralph and Eliza Gelmi, have performed strongly in new positions up the ground. A betting person may put one of them in the book as a goal scorer this week.
