Round 5, 2020 WAFL League Team Selection
Saturday afternoon will see the Swan Districts Football Club meet South Fremantle for the 30th time in 10 years.
Although there is almost nothing separating them in total wins during this time (Swans lead the victories 15 to 14), the Bulldogs have been the team to beat of late, having won nine out of the last 10 battles, and sit unbeaten atop the 2020 WAFL ladder.
But never write off an underdog…
Coming off 3 defeats and most recently the bye, our Swans are well rested and hungry for their first win of the year.
This week will see two debutants come into the side, having been recruited by the club in the off-season.
The Swans brought over three new recruits from the Northern Blues in Victoria: Frank Anderson, Sam Fisher and Deven Costigan. After a hamstring injury has kept him out of the league side until now, Costigan will round out all three players to have broken into the league side, starting in the forward line.
Former Claremont Tiger, Jacob Sideris, has also forced his way into the team, with consistently strong performances at Reserves level.
After a strong debut as a key defender, Brayden Spackman also retains his spot, while Nathan Ireland pushes into the top side for the first time this season.
