2020 Fixture Set To See Swan Districts Rise From The Bottom
Swan Districts kick off the 2020 Optus WAFL Premiership Season at home with a blockbuster game against reigning premiers, Subiaco, on Saturday 4th April.
With a tough draw to start the season, the league side will play all five of last year’s finalists in their first six rounds.
A Sunday game over the ANZAC Day long weekend, and a twilight game in Round 17 are the only anomalies from a consistent fixture of the usual 2:15pm Saturday starts, making it easier for members and fans to get to the games.
A great run of home games after the Round 10 bye sees the club play 6 of their last 9 games at Steel Blue Oval, setting them up for a strong finish.
As the league side vie to make it back into finals contention for the first time since 2017, coach Adam Pickering says that playing in front of a home crowd really sets them up to secure a spot in the top 5.
“We know how important they are to the footy club. They are the lifeblood of the place.
“It’s such a great feeling to put up a good performance at Steel Blue and see them rejoice in our victories.
“We actually sent a video to our potential recruits about ‘This is how our crowd reacts when we have a win’.
“We think we have the best supporters in the competition”.
