New Swans Community Bus
Long-time club sponsor Pilbara Motor Group (PMG) has provided a 21 seat bus to help the club deliver and grow its community programs in the Perth metropolitan and Pilbara regions.
PMG is the Swan Districts Football Club’s vehicle sponsor for its V Swans education, health and sport programs in the Pilbara for the past 7 years. The vehicle company just agreed to continue this partnership for a further 3 years.
PMG’s sponsorship goes above and beyond providing the club vehicles to help deliver programs. It also provides employment opportunities and support for the club’s young male and female footballers who may be looking to upskill and gain experience in the administration and mechanic industry.
With the addition of the new Swans Community Bus, the club’s community team can now expand its outreach strategies by offering transportation to and from programs afterschool and during school holidays, ensuring participants arrive home safely.
The Swans community outreach program provides various groups with opportunities to become more engaged with community events and other socially inclusive programs. New programs in the Perth Metropolitan area include the ‘Make Your Mark’ program aimed at young Indigenous boys and girls and the ‘Swans Inclusion’ program working with students at Durham Road and Cyril Jackson Senior Campus to improve social outcomes for students with disabilities.
In October this year, the bus will transport up to 18 young female footballers as a part of the club’s annual V Swans S2S (Strength to Succeed) Leadership and Cultural Tour. This year the girls will travel to the remote Aboriginal Community of Jigalong before visiting Karijini and Tom Price for a series of football games, leadership training and cultural awareness experiences.
“The tour aims to empower young women to become strong leaders in our community and provide them with a pathway to participate in football”, says Shane Beros the club’s Community Program Manager.
PMG is delighted to support Swans to be a well-connected and community engaged football club.
“We’re happy to be able to assist Swan Districts better connect with its community including the Aboriginal, disability, youth at risk and multicultural communities. The Swans Community Bus will help many people from a variety of diverse backgrounds to re-engage with community when previously transport has been an obstacle”, says Dave Watson, the Principle Dealer of PMG.
The benefactors of the PMG sponsored bus will be numerous and enable the club to deliver valuable experiences and opportunities that may have otherwise been unachievable.
“The Swan Districts Football club would like to thank PMG, the club’s vehicle sponsor of our V Swans programs in the Pilbara for their generosity and commitment to help grow the club’s capacity to deliver community programs”, says the club’s General Manager, Community Kara Donnellan.
