Vale Garry Sidebottom
The Swan Districts Football Club wishes to offer its sincerest condolences to all the family, friends and supporters of one of our favourite sons, Garry Sidebottom who has passed away aged 64.
Sidebottom was a member of one of the great families in the history of West Australian Football and the Swan Districts Football Club.
He played 114 games and kicked 227 goals with Swan Districts having made his debut in 1973. Following five years at Swans, he tried his hand in the VFL where he would play 54 games at St Kilda, seven with Geelong and 43 for Fitzroy.
He returned to Swan Districts to finish his career from 1985 until retiring at the end of the 1987 season. Along the way, he won two Swan Medals, was a regular WA representative and was a leading goalkicker both with Swans and at St Kilda.
Sidebottom was inducted into the WA Football Hall of Fame in 2011 and remained a great supporter of Swan Districts.
He will always be remembered as one of the club and state's great characters and servants.
