Steel Blue Oval Closed for Turf Repair Works

Following the recent coring and topdressing works at Steel Blue Oval to improve soil aeration and surface drainage, the oval will be closed from Friday 21 November to Monday 1 December to allow the Town to complete a box-out of the existing turf requiring replacement.

This process involves mechanical sod cutting and removal of the top layer of vegetation and soil to eliminate thatch, weed seed bank and compacted subgrade. It ensures a clean, even base for new turf installation, facilitates proper root establishment and improves long-term surface performance.

Approximately 1,100 square metres of kikuyu turf (in jumbo rolls) will be laid from Monday 24 November as part of this broader improvement program.

Training will resume at Steel Blue Oval from Monday 1 December.
