Round 7 WAFL Women’s Match Report
Swan Districts did have to come from behind at half-time but outscored Perth four goals to one in the second half to score the 19-point win at Steel Blue Oval in the WAFL Women’s competition on Saturday.
It was the first ever time that the Swans and Demons have met in the WAFL Women’s competition with Perth just joining in 2025, and on the hunt of their first ever win they threw the gauntlet down to the black-and-whites.
Perth were leading by two points at half-time but Swans responded well after the break with four of the five goals in the second half on the way to the eventual 7.5 (47) to 4.4 (28) victory.

It was the first ever time the two teams had met in the WAFL Women’s competition and it took more than 11 minutes for the first score and that was a goal to Swan Districts courtesy of Jaime Henry.
Perth were then able to have the only other three scoring shots of the first quarter including a goal to Fina Dethlefsen that saw the Demons head into quarter-time leading by two points.
Even with two goals in the second quarter from Swan Districts to Taylah Edwards and Emily McGuire, Perth also added two more goals and they remained leading by two points at half-time in the hunt of a first ever WAFL Women’s win.
Swans returned to the lead to start the second half with a second goal to McGuire and then Kayley King added another with those two coming inside the first three minutes.
Perth did respond soon after and by three quarter-time it was just a six-point lead for Swans with the game on the line still.
It was another early goal in the last quarter to the black-and-whites thanks to Sienna Gerardi before then getting another to Meg Carron and completing the eventual 19-point hard fought victory.
