Round 4 Women’s Preview v Peel Thunder
Swan Districts heads south to Mandurah on Saturday to take on Peel Thunder in Round 4 of the 2025 WAFL Women’s season.
It’s Easter Round in the WAFL Women’s competition and for Swan Districts it means taking on Peel in Mandurah at Lane Group Stadium with the League contest getting underway at 11:05am following on from the Hart Sport Rogers Cup match up that gets underway at 9:00am.
The winner of the WAFL Women’s Round 4 contest will likely head into Easter in the top four of the competition with both teams attempting to win their second match of the season so far.
Swans currently sit in fifth spot with a 1-1 record while the Thunder are just ahead in fourth place at 1-2.
Swan Districts started the season with a 30-point victory against East Perth at Leederville’s Sullivan Logistics Stadium ahead of the Round 2 bye and then the first home game of the season at Steel Blue Oval last Saturday against Subiaco.
It wasn’t quite to be for Swans with the 24-point defeat at the hands of the Lions but there was still plenty to be encouraged about including the continued outstanding midfield form of reigning fairest and best winner Carys D’Addario.
She racked up another 24 possessions while Jaime Henry finished with 22 disposals, Luka Davis 16, Indiana West 14, Kayley King 10 and Isabella Edgley 10.
Meanwhile, Peel started its season holding competition newcomers Perth goalless in a 50-point Round 1 win at home before losing a tight one to East Fremantle by 13 points and also going down to the undefeated South Fremantle last Saturday in Fremantle.
Last time the two teams met in the WAFL Women’s competition in the final round of the home and away season last year with Swan Districts scoring the dominant 59-point win in Mandurah on the way to taking part in the finals.
Swan Districts has now won the last that three clashes between the two teams with those victories coming at an average winning margin of 50.3 points.
The last time beat Peel beat Swans was back in the opening round of the 2023 season.
The two teams also have a fascinating WAFL Women’s history with one another dating all the way back to the 2021 grand final where Peel completed back-to-back premiership triumphs with the win that also took place on their home deck at Lane Group Stadium.
The Hart Sport Rogers Cup match up will also be taking place on Saturday morning in Mandurah with Swan Districts currently sitting in fifth position with a win and a loss from their opening two matches of the 2025 season.
Peel, meanwhile, has so far played three for a win and two defeats coming into hosting Swans on Saturday morning.
