Round 13 Women’s Preview v Claremont
Swan Districts can keep their top two WAFL Women’s hopes alive and further consolidate third position with a win against Claremont at Revo Fitness Stadium on Saturday.
Swans head to Tigerland on Saturday afternoon attempting to hand Claremont a first loss of the 2025 WAFL Women’s season in what could be a crucial game for both teams.
The WAFL Women’s contest gets underway at Revo Fitness Stadium at 3:10pm which follows on from the Rogers Cup match up that begins at 1:05pm.
Coming into the Round 13 WAFL Women’s match up, Swan Districts sit in third position with a 7-3 record while Claremont are in top spot yet to lose with nine losses and a draw so far in 2025.
A win on Saturday for Swans and suddenly a top two finish would be still possible while they will also further consolidate third position where they currently hold a one-game gap on the fourth placed West Perth.
The two teams did meet back in Round 9 of this season at Steel Blue Oval with Claremont beating Swan Districts in that game by 33 points.
On that day, Indiana West and Emily McGuire were the goal kickers for Swan Districts with Carys D’Addario racking up 29 possessions, Jaime Henry 23, Sienna Gerardi 15 and West 13.
Coming into Saturday’s game and Swans are coming off a 33-point win two weeks ago against West Perth prior to last week’s bye.
From that team, Swan Districts have made just the one change with Adi Griffith into the team with Emma Nanut going out.
Claremont beat Perth by 21 points last week to keep their undefeated run going in 2025 and Hayley Colvin, Emma Henderson, Mabel Markey, Jess Ritchie, Matilda Sergeant and Pippa Wilson all come into the squad.
Going out for the Tigers are India Bonadeo and Rachel Ortlepp.
Earlier on Saturday afternoon at Revo Fitness Stadium and Swan Districts will take on Claremont in the Rogers Cup match up beginning at 1:05pm.
Coming into the contest and Swans are sitting third on the Rogers Cup ladder with six wins, three losses and a draw while the Tigers are only just behind them in fourth place with a 6-4 record.
That heightens the stakes for the clash on Saturday with a win for Swans to keep them solid in third position and even keep them in contention of a top two finish. A loss and they will slip to fourth and be battling to hold on to a place in the finals altogether.
Swan Districts are fresh off the bye in Round 12 and prior to that had a 25-point loss to West Perth at Joondalup with Madison Fisher, Charli Grau, Tabitha Martin, Shania McFarlane, Zoe Tickner, Destiny Tiet and Ellie Withers all coming into the squad.
Going out for the black-and-whites are Adi Griffith, Layla Hagerstrom and Katic Borsic.
Claremont is coming off a thrilling six-point win against Perth last Saturday at Mineral Resources Park and from that team, Mary Davies, Amy Evans, Mollie Heller, Gemma Musk, May Nicholson, Rachel O’Malley-Sudlow and Jasmine Roberts have been added.
Going out for the Tigers are Angel King, Sienna McLaren, Mackenzie Daws and Evie Edwards.
