Round 10 Women’s Preview v Subiaco

Swan Districts faces another significant test this Saturday at Sullivan Logistics Stadium attempting to hand Subiaco a first loss in the 2025 WAFL Women’s season.

A huge fortnight in the WAFL Women’s competition for Swan Districts continues this Saturday when they back up playing one undefeated team last week by taking on the other this week when being on the road to Subiaco at the Leederville venue.

The WAFL Women’s league clash will get underway at 11:05am on Saturday morning following on from the Rogers Cup match up that opens the morning from 9am.

Right now coming into Round 10 of the WAFL Women’s season and it’s Subiaco and Claremont as the top two teams in the competition with both yet to lose in 2025 with seven wins apiece, and then a draw against one another.

Swan Districts has then been given the challenge of taking on both teams in successive weeks and last Saturday did suffer a 33-point defeat at the hands of Claremont at Steel Blue Oval.

Now the black-and-whites are on the road to Sullivan Logistics Stadium this Saturday to take on a Subiaco team who are just ahead of Claremont on the ladder coming into the weekend thanks to percentage.

However, Swan Districts do remain in third position on the ladder coming into the round as well and a win on Saturday would take them to equal on seven wins with Subiaco and only that half a game behind.

Prior to last week’s loss at home to Claremont and Swans were the hottest team in the WAFL Women’s competition having won five straight matches and this Saturday provides the chance to show that they are capable of matching it with the top two teams.

The two teams did already meet back in Round 3 of the 2025 season with Subiaco winning by 24 points at Steel Blue Oval, but Swans could have been much closer had it not been for the kicking 1.7 for the day.

Taylah Edwards kicked the lone goal that day for Swan Districts with Carys D’Addario collecting 24 possessions, Jaime Henry 22, Luke Davis 16 and Indiana West 14.

Coming off that loss last week to Claremont, Swan Districts have added Tyla Fitzgerald, Makaela Grau, Adi Griffith, Tannah Lee, Kayla May, Emma Nanut and Sienna Pollard have been added to the squad to take on Subiaco.

Going out for Swans are Jaime Henry, Eliza Gelmi and Carys D’Addario.

Subiaco is coming off a 17-point win last Saturday against Perth and from that team, Lauren Bilaloski, Hayley Corlett and Karry Plummer have come into the team.

Going out for the Lions are Olivia Wolmarans, Olivia Crane and Aimee Schmidt.

Meanwhile, the Rogers Cup contest will open proceedings on Saturday morning at Sullivan Logistics Stadium with the game getting underway at 9am.

Swans currently sit in second position on the Rogers Cup ladder while the Lions are sixth, but with Swan Districts on a 5-2 with a draw record and Subiaco at 4-4, not much separates both sides so Saturday morning’s game could very well be a season-defining one.

Swans are coming off a 12-point win last week against Claremont at Steel Blue Oval while Subiaco suffered a 33-point loss at the hands of Perth.

There are plenty of changes for both teams with Swan Districts adding Jaya Abbott, Katica Borsic, Asha Davis, Layla Hagerstrom, Reaghan Lynch, Kirrali Richmond, Gemma Smith and Destiny Tiet to the squad.

Going out for the black-and-whites are Indyana Bird, Zoe Tickner, Rheanae Beagley and Shylah Barker.

From that Subiaco team that lost to the Demons, Jazmine Farnan, Sharlize Gillard, Jayde Gillard, Ellen MacGillivray, Bonnie MacLeod, Emily McGinn and Asha Mollett come into the squad.

Going out for the Lions are Kennedy Thorpe, Erin Griggs, Alivia Becvarovski, Taylor Lally, Summer Cunningham, Lucy Farmer and Chloe Butler.
