Round 6 WAFLW Preview v Subiaco
Swan Districts' WAFLW team is back in action this Sunday afternoon at home to Subiaco with the opportunity to break back into the top four with a victory.
The WAFLW competition took a break over the Easter long weekend following the opening month of the season, but now resumes this weekend and for Swan Districts it’s a return home to Steel Blue Oval.
The WAFLW contest between Swan Districts and Subiaco takes place at the Bassendean venue from 12.10pm on Sunday afternoon.
It looms as a fascinating Round 6 WAFLW match up as well with both Swans and the Lions holding 2-2 records following the opening four weeks with Subiaco only sitting ahead of Swan Districts courtesy of percentage.
Swan Districts opened the season with a loss to Claremont before bouncing back with victories against Peel Thunder and East Perth, and then prior to the break it was a heartbreaking one-point defeat at the hands of reigning premiers East Fremantle.
Subiaco, meanwhile, has scored wins so far against East Perth and Peel Thunder while losing to East Fremantle West Perth along the way.
The two teams played one another twice last season and in the second of those meetings in Round 11 it was Swans winning a nail-biter by the solitary point at Leederville Oval.
The earlier meeting last year took place at Steel Blue Oval in Round 2 and on that occasion it was Subiaco beating Swan Districts by 47 points.
Coming off that one-point loss to East Fremantle two weeks ago, there are two changes to the Swan Districts team with Emma Humphries and Kelly Polla coming into the line-up.
Going out for the black-and-whites are Adi Griffith and Teyharna Curry.
Meanwhile, Swan Districts' Rogers Cup team will be in action on Sunday as well taking on Perth at Lathlain's Mineral Resources Park from 10am.
Coming into the game and Swan Districts will be looking to make it four wins from the opening five games of the Rogers Cup season and stay inside the top four up against a Demons team with two wins and two losses so far in 2024.
