Eric Gorman to be inducted into the Swans Hall of Fame

Wednesday, March 15, 2023 - 5:09 PM

Eric Gorman will join Simon Beasley and Leon Baker in being inducted into the Swan Districts Football Club’s Hall of Fame in 2023.

The club’s Hall of Fame was established to recognise and enshrine players, coaches, volunteers, and administrators who have made a significant contribution to the club on or off the oval since the club’s inception in 1934.

There have only been 38 members inducted into the Swan Districts Football Club Hall of Fame and only two have been elevated to Immortals.

Gorman played nine seasons with Swans between 1961 – 1969, including 163 games and a remarkable 555 goals. He came through the thirds as a key forward and had a good reach and could take the ball out in front with safe hands.

He played in the 1962 and 1963 Premierships, kicking a WAFL record 9 goals in the 1963 Grand Final.

Gorman was the Club’s leading goal scorer for a record 7 consecutive seasons between 1962 and 1968. He kicked his highest tally of 97 goals in 1965.

He represented WA in 1962 and became a Swans Life Member in 1980 and Club Ball Legend in 2019.

The remaining three 2023 Hall of Fame inductees, together with two elevated Immortals, and a second Iconic Moment will be announced over the next couple of months.

These will be officially recognised at the Swan Districts Hall of Fame Induction evening to be held at the club on Saturday 1st July 2023. It’s a wonderful opportunity for supporters to meet Swans royalty in person.

Tickets cost $100 and includes complimentary drinks on arrival and dinner.
